Great Plains Manufacturing is seeking a Paint Manager to lead our Paint Division at our Salina facility. This opportunity allows you to plan, direct and coordinate the manufacturing paint processes and personnel.

This salaried role typically works Monday through Thursday from 5:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Primary Duties And Responsibilities

  • Develop, evaluate, and improve paint manufacturing methods utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards.
  • Analyze and plan work force utilization, space requirements, production workflow, and support design layout of equipment as necessary and workspace for maximum efficiency of painting equipment and processes using the Kubota Production System (KPS) principles.
  • Confer with planning and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods.
  • Confer with vendors to determine product specifications meets Kubota specs and requirements. Arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards with a high return on investment (ROI).
  • Provide leadership and direct paint department operations.
  • Develop the initial skills for leadership: providing feedback and giving recognition.
  • Create the Paint schedule; adjust staffing and work hours to meet schedules.
  • Manage paint department employees, including reviews and addressing concerns to provide a good work environment.
  • Work with Quality control to improve or correct paint quality, safety, or production issues.
  • Ensure training, regular communication, auditing for safe practices, and required inspection or completion of inspection findings.
  • Perform monthly paint equipment maintenance.
  • Participate in capacity planning and efficient use of equipment and people.
  • Drive Lean efforts within the department including implementation.
  • Administer company policies and procedures to ensure consistency with company direction.
  • Follow all Great Plains and OSHA safety regulations and wear prescribed safety and protective equipment.
  • Other duties may be assigned that require other qualifications, physical demands, and/or work environment.

Preferred Skills And Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of all aspects of Industrial Liquid paint and Pro mix systems.
  • Computer experience to include Microsoft Office.
  • Experience in manufacturing supervision.
  • Knowledge of “LEAN” manufacturing concepts.
  • Familiarity with MRP and IBMi systems.
  • Experience working as a Paint ME in a manufacturing environment helpful, but not required
  • Lean advocate with demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing processes
  • Understanding of a variety of paint application equipment and systems
  • Excellent communication skills in order to respond to inquiries from customers, regulatory agencies, or the business community.
  • Ability to effectively present information to management and public groups.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Proficiency in using office equipment and software including word processing, Internet, Email, spreadsheets, software concepts, hardware, presentations, graphics, multimedia, copiers, printers, phone systems, USB drives, etc.
  • Ability to safely operate automobiles, trucks, tractors and lifts
  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; four years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
