Work Schedule: Mon-Fri, with evenings and weekends Reports To: Executive Director

Position Summary

The Maintenance Director supports the work of the YMCA of Columbia-Willamette, a leading, philanthropic organization committed to strengthening the foundations of our communities. The Maintenance Director stewards the Y’s cause and advocates for the Y’s mission and strategic plan, promoting and protecting the brand and reputation as a global, inclusive organization. The Maintenance Director oversees a specifically assigned program area for a designated service region of the YMCA of Columbia-Willamette and participates in financial, philanthropic, staff, and program development.

Essential Functions

  • Plans grounds and maintenance routines on day-to-day, week-to-week and month-to-month basis.
  • Inspects and diagnoses facility problems. Performs preventive maintenance and makes repairs to heating, ventilation, electrical, plumbing and structural systems.
  • Checks buildings and grounds for conditions that need attention and takes appropriate action to correct problems. Evaluates member and staff requests to determine what can be done with existing or immediate resources.
  • Operates a variety of standard power tools and equipment used in building and grounds maintenance.
  • Keeps tools properly stored and maintained.
  • Conducts and maintains a record of regular building and vehicle safety checks.
  • Recommends improvements and revision to safety rules and procedures. Identifies unsafe working conditions and takes action to immediately correct.
  • Works within approved operating budget and monitors expenses to meet budget objectives. Reviews all relevant maintenance invoices for submittal and approval.
  • Contacts, schedules and tracks contractor projects as required.
  • Assists contractors and others with inspections, drawings and re-models.
  • Assists program staff with event setup and supervision as needed.
  • Keeps abreast of new codes, regulations and maintenance practices.
  • Orders materials and supplies as needed.
  • Keep current inventory records.
  • Maintains a safe, clean, and secure maintenance building and surrounding grounds.
  • Technical ability and working knowledge of heating systems, water heaters, ventilation, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and structural systems.
  • Inspects and diagnoses facility problems. Performs preventive maintenance and makes repairs as necessary.
  • This position will have some weekend responsibilities.

Additional Functions

  • Ability to read and follow written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to accept guidance and supervision and work with others
  • Ability to perform manual labor, including bending, stooping, reaching, climbing on ladders and lifting heavy objects.
  • Ability to work both indoors and outdoors with hazards associated with the use of hand tools and power tools.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, volunteers and the general public.
  • Ability to lift loads up to 50lbs.
  • Ability to climb ladders & comfortable at heights
  • Maintain cleanliness standards at designated Site.
  • Participate in all Regional Staff meetings and functions.
  • Work well in high stress situations, responding properly to critical incidents, and act swiftly in emergencies.
  • Work independently as well as create and lead work teams.
  • Establish harmonious relations with staff team, volunteers, participants/members, and local partners.
  • Actively participate in the YMCA’s annual support campaign.

Requirements

  • Must pass YMCA background check.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Participate in all assigned, job related trainings.
  • CPR/First Aid and Food Handlers certifications or ability to acquire within 30 days of employment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is performed at YMCA Camp Collins-East Region. Acceptable and appropriate work attire for the position is required.
