Job Summary

The Humanities Division of Jefferson Community and Technical College has an opening for an English as a Second Language (ESL) Instructor for primarily the Downtown campus.

Job Duties

This position will be responsible for full-time in-person instruction in English as a Second Language writing, reading, grammar, and vocabulary. Fostering an active and inclusive learning environment, maintaining office hours for mentoring and coaching students, success and retention activities, and utilization of Blackboard for communication and feedback are additional requirements. Other duties include but are not limited to:

  • Academic advising
  • Course and curriculum development
  • Internal and external community service
  • Educational leadership and professional development.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in TESOL/Linguistics/Foreign Language/English
  • Extensive experience in teaching multiple ESL levels and skills, including college composition
  • Understanding of the importance of working with students from diverse backgrounds
  • Blackboard Proficiency

Preferred Qualifications

Teaching experience at the college level, 18 graduate hours in English, speaking at least one foreign language, international experience
