Additional Position Details: FTE: 0.000001 | On Call | Variable Hours/Variable Days

PLEASE NOTE: For Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center (ARRMC) only - candidates at the Lab Aide level may be considered if interested in starting a career in the laboratory and have less than 1 year of work experience. Starting wage for a Lab Aide is $17.00 (Increase depending on experience).

Due to the nature of the work - this position does require the flexibility to work variable hours and variable days - to include day, evening, weekend and holidays hours.

Starting Wage For The Lab Assistant Is $19.27 An Hour And Up (based On Years Of Relevant Experience). Plus, You Will Earn Extra Shift Differentials For Swing, Night, And Weekend Hours. For The Lab Assistant Level, Those Differentials Are

• $1.27 extra for working between 3:00pm - 11:00pm
• $2.15 extra for working between 11:01pm and 7:00am
• $1.10 extra for working weekends
  
  

Position Summary

The Lab Assistant/Specimen Processor contributes to the overall patient experience by using organizational and communication skills to receive and process laboratory specimens as specified by regulatory requirements and laboratory standard operating procedures. This is done through assessing requisition dates, specimen adequacy and acceptability to ensure accurate order entry and high-quality laboratory results.

Qualifications

Education

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience demonstrating the ability to effectively communicate as needed for the position is required
• Prior education or demonstrated knowledge in medical terminology
  
  

Experience

• 1 year of laboratory experience or a combination of education and or related experience in a healthcare setting providing knowledge of medical terminology is required
• Specimen processing experience including esoteric reference lab specimen handling and packaging, preferred
• Phlebotomy experience and/or knowledge of laboratory tests and /or laboratory ordering processes, preferred
• College courses/credits toward advanced degree, especially science course work, preferred
• Data entry, keyboarding experience and computer proficiency, preferred
  
  

Licensure/Certifications

• Medical Laboratory Assistant through the Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), preferred
