The Paralegal Hybrid will work closely with litigation teams on litigation matters, assisting with all aspects of case preparation and file management, from commencement through trial and appeal.
Responsibilities:
- Daily case management and maintenance of electronic file and docket for litigation team, including indexing pleadings and calendaring hearings and deadlines.
- E-file pleadings in state, federal, and appellate courts.
- Draft routine court filings, discovery, and correspondence for attorney review and use.
- Provide daily administrative and logistical support for assigned matters including client and court interactions, deposition and meeting scheduling, opening new matters, and drafting engagement letters.
- Cite check, format, and proofread pleadings, memorandums, and briefs, and prepare tables of contents and tables of authority for same.
- Assist attorneys with all phases of discovery, including preparation of templates, drafting and formatting requests and responses, setting up e-discovery projects for review and coding, running document productions from e-discovery platforms, and maintaining production indices.
- Assist attorneys with deposition preparation, including preparing exhibits, coordinating reporting services and deposition locations, and preparing subpoenas and subject matter riders.
- Assist with trial preparation, including preparing witness lists, exhibit lists, and trial notebooks.
- Communicate and coordinate with clients, opposing counsel, and other professionals involved in litigation matters.
- Complete other tasks and research projects as they are assigned.
- Track and enter own time for billable tasks performed.
- 5+ years’ experience in Litigation strongly preferred.
- Ability to prioritize, multitask, and work independently to meet deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including proofreading.
- Exceptional attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
- Proficiency in State, Federal and Appellate Court e-filing systems is required.
- Proficiency in Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft office products is required.
- Blue Book proficiency is preferred.
- Familiarity with Westlaw and other research platforms is preferred.
- Familiarity with NetDocuments or other document management systems is preferred.
- Familiarity with e-discovery platforms such as Relativity and Logikcull is preferred.
- Familiarity with time entry and billing systems, such as Centerbase, preferred.
