MadTree is seeking an Accountant II to join our Math Department, where you'll manage critical financial operations across our hospitality, manufacturing, and distribution businesses. POSITION: Accountant II

LOCATION: Cincinnati, OH (Oakley)

REPORTS TO: Senior Accounting Manager

POSITION SUMMARY: Works as a member of the Math Department to manage accounting functions across hospitality, manufacturing, and distribution operations, including AR management, tax compliance, financial reporting, and process automation while applying GAAP principles and serving as a financial consultant to business stakeholders. They will be an avid MadTree ambassador who lives the behaviors – Connect, Grow, and Give a F*ck.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Post and process bi-weekly payroll, cash receipts, disbursements, and journal entries; review all posted transactions for accuracy and complete reconciliations timely.
  • Reconcile bank, credit card, prepaid and accrual accounts, A/P and A/R ledgers, and balance sheet accounts each period.
  • Manage accounts receivable operations including invoicing, payment tracking, and collections to optimize cash flow, reduce delinquent accounts, and strengthen client relationships while implementing efficient AR policies.
  • Coordinate Commercial Activity, Sales, and Excise Tax processes including accurate calculations, timely filing, payment management, and documentation maintenance to ensure full compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Maintain schedules for G/L accounts; prepare and post monthly journal entries.
  • Fixed asset accounting and maintenance of the fixed asset ledger.
  • Support annual budget preparation and periodic variance analysis.
  • Product costing, track ingredient/raw material cost increases, and perform periodic inventory counts.
  • Perform month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes to verify all entries have been created and posted, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and reporting integrity.
  • Prepare journal entries to allocate payroll batches by department and expense type.
  • Prepare journal entries to record accrued expenses in the correct period, amortize prepaid expenses and fixed assets while maintaining schedules that tie to the balance sheet.
  • Develop and manage process automation for Math functions to drive efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Cross-train across business lines to maintain familiarity in order to serve as a back-up for peers.
  • Work with the Senior Accounting Manager to support all departments and lines of business.
  • Participate in department/line of business revenue enhancement and cost saving meetings, as needed.
  • Regular review of complete company financials to maintain business familiarity.
  • Work closely with business line staff to provide financial consultation and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Enthusiastically spends a minimum of 16 hours per year volunteering (paid) for MadTree Impact initiatives.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Must be at least 21 years of age or older.

  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or another accounting-related field.
  • 3+ years in accounting position for an organization with $10M+ revenue.
  • Minimum of one year experience with an ERP solution.

Important Skills And Abilities

  • Thorough knowledge of GAAP principles and standards.
  • Working understanding of taxes, including federal and state income, sales, use and excise.
  • Understanding of restaurant or manufacturing accounting is a plus, and how to fully use the accounting and operations modules of Restaurant365 software.
  • Strong project and time management, attention to detail, exceptional analytical, decision making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong Internal Control background.
  • Great verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-driven; able to work with limited amount of direction and make critical decisions independently.
  • Must be able to educate, persuade and inspire others, and work both independently and within a team to accomplish goals.
  • Must demonstrate the utmost in integrity, in all respects.

The Pay Range For This Role Is

52,615 - 71,185 USD per year(Oakley)
