Description
The City of Roanoke is seeking a Deputy Tax Clerk II to perform clerical work, assess personal property, audit DMV records, and process bills and mail. The successful candidate will handle inquires regarding personal property, state income tax and business licenses (i.e. telephone, walk-ins, etc.); file records; assist taxpayers in completing forms and furnishes information; make data entries on computer terminal; and prepare and makes data entries of Va. Estimated Income Tax Voucher I. They will also prepare and submit month end report for Va. State Income Tax to the Dept. of Taxation and City Treasurer, post information to records as needed, and appear in court as needed. This position requires a high school diploma or general education degree (GED); one to three years related experience and/or training in general office work and dealing with the general public; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
