Who We Are

The Atlanta Community Food Bank is working to end hunger in our community with the food, people and big ideas needed so that no one worries where their next meal is coming from. Since 1979, we’ve been providing food for a growing network of nonprofit partners – including food pantries, community kitchens, childcare centers, night shelters and senior centers. We currently serve more than 700 partners in 29 counties across metro Atlanta and north Georgia.

About The Role

As an integral member of the Development Team, the Volunteer Coordinator works to engage the community in support of our mission. The individual in this role will coordinate all elements of?volunteering?either within the Food Bank or on behalf of our community partners for which we recruit?volunteers. The role involves recruiting, scheduling, training, and retaining of?volunteers.

What You’ll Do

• Program Coordination
• Collaborates with Food Bank staff and volunteers to cultivate mutually beneficial relationships. Maintains effective relationships with a diverse group of external constituencies to promote volunteerism is support of the Food Bank’s mission.
• Provides excellent customer service to individuals and groups interested in volunteering with the organization
• Maintains relationships with volunteers, supports them in identifying service opportunities that meet their needs and the needs of the organization.
• Collaborates with staff to identify volunteer opportunities in the organization.
• Recruits, interviews, screens, and places volunteers in specific roles. Effectively recruits and places the right volunteers with the right skills in the right volunteer positions.
• Represent the Atlanta Community Food Bank at volunteer fairs and corporate employee engagement activities
• Other duties as assigned
• Administrative activities
• Maintains accurate documentation of volunteer assignments including documentation of hours served, personal data, contact information, evaluations, etc.
• Captures event information in Volunteer Hub and maintains records regarding constituents and creates and reviews reports
• Manage daily volunteer schedules and update the volunteer database.
  
  

What You’ll Need: Skills and Experience your resume should demonstrate:

• Have excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Experience working with volunteers
• Are proficient in Microsoft office suite and have experience using Volunteer Hub or similar system.
• Have a high level of flexibility and ability to work as a team member and have excellent customer service skills when engaging with both internal and external constituents.
• Are a creative problem-solver with experience working in a fast-paced environment and interacting with diverse groups of people in a professional manner
• Are mission-focused

• Employee is?routinely required to lift 20 to 50 lbs.
• This position works in a typical office setting and within the community. There may be extended periods of sitting, standing and/or bending; listening, talking and/or visual concentration; writing and/or computer use.
• Expected local travel time for this position is up to 10% - 20% per year
• This role will be expected to work a minimal number of nights and weekends depending on event coverage needed
