Role Description

Are you looking for a job that allows you to travel, join a fast-growing startup and contribute to the development of an innovative technology? Vulcan Line Tools is expanding their data collection team and is now hiring a Field Operator. This is a temporary position with opportunity to become a full-time employee. The Field Operator will primarily be responsible for planning and performing data collection trips. This includes route planning and acquiring 360° imagery of physical infrastructure for fiber internet builds and electric utility audits. This position is based out of Birmingham, AL and will require in-state and out-of-state travel between 50-90%. The Field Operator will work on a rotating schedule, with time off between trips of roughly 1-2 weeks.

What You Will Do

You will work directly with experienced fielders and operations managers who will train you on how to use a 360° camera, manage a GPS receiver, plan routes in GIS software, and upload files. Once trained, you will work in a team of two, driving a car that is mounted with a 360° camera and/or navigating for the driver and operating the camera. Collection trips can take a couple days or they can require multiple trips across a span of weeks. Your efforts will directly contribute to Vulcan Line Tools' effort to collect the data that is uploaded to their software, Azmyth.

Qualifications

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced role
  • Currently attain a valid US driver's license
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Technical experience in Windows and operating digital technology is a plus
  • At least 25 years of age

Physical Requirements

Must have the ability to lift, push, pull and carry 50lbs or more. Must be comfortable sitting, standing, walking, squatting, and bending.
