We are currently looking for an Accounting Specialist – Accounts Receivable to join our team in Portage, MI! This role will specialize in deposit accounting.

What are the responsibilities of the Accounting Specialist – Accounts Receivable?

  • Maintain accurate ledgers in accordance with signed lease agreements.
  • Ensure rentable items, such as cable and internet, pets, garages, and carports, are adjusted timely to reflect changes.
  • Receive and record accurate rental payments for all residents.
  • Collaborate and analyze account data and generate monthly financial reports.
  • Generate, prepare, and maintain court paperwork for applicable resident files.
  • Analyze termination paperwork, specifically security deposits, to determine whether a refund or bill is due to the resident upon move out.
  • Communicate with Property Managers to resolve discrepancies and other payment issues.

What are the role requirements?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business or related field is preferred.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and procedures is required.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office programs, especially in Excel.
  • Experience using Yardi Voyager or related property management software is preferred.
  • Experience with expense reporting preferred.
  • Displays accuracy with information collection and monitoring.
  • Demonstrates analysis and problem-solving skills.
  • Maintains positive working relationships with residents, management, and colleagues.
  • Maintains high level of confidentiality.
  • Demonstrates self-management and multi-tasking skills.
  • Regular attendance, work ethic and strong interpersonal skills are required for success in this position.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Must possess exceptional organizational and time-management skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Must present the ability to execute job duties under stressful circumstances such as last-minute deadlines or other difficult situations.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and respectfully with others.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
