Controller Position In Growth Company

Vista Springs is seeking an experienced Controller to join our growing company. This is an exciting opportunity for a financial executive to take on a significant role in overseeing financial reporting, year-end audit coordination with external auditors, and financial projections.

Healthcare And Or/real Estate Accounting Experience Strongly Preferred

To support continued growth, Vista Springs, as an owner, operator, and developer of Assisted Living and Memory Care Communities in the North-Central Midwest is currently seeking a Controller with technical accounting experience.

This hybrid position will typically report 2 days a week to our East Lansing, Michigan corporate office location and will support the continued growth and development of the Vista Springs portfolio and brand, reporting to the CEO and the Finance & Administration Officer.

The Controller will ensure that all financial transactions for the company are handled in accordance with IRS requirements and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. This individual will maintain the integrity of the financial statements for management, investors, and lenders.

Responsibilities:

• Work closely with the Executive Management Team on treasury, cash management, and financial planning projects.
• Manage and support year-end audit with external auditors.
• Prepare accurate and timely financial reports, forecasts, and projections.
• Develop financial strategies to support long-term business growth and profitability.
• Collaborate with senior management to drive financial success.
  
  
  

Qualifications:

• Proven experience in a financial management role, preferably within a growth-oriented company.
• Experience with year-end audit, financial reporting, and projections.
• Strong understanding of treasury, cash management, and financial operations.
• CPA preferred, but not required.
• Must be based in Lansing, Michigan. No remote applicants will be considered.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in accounting or Finance. MBA preferred.
• 7+ years of progressive work-related experience in managerial accounting and finance.
• Highly proficient with MS Office Suite (intermediate or advanced abilities in Excel).
• In-depth knowledge of SAGE 50 (Peachtree) or similar software (3+ years).
• Strong leadership abilities to mentor, motivate and influence excellence.
• Availability to work evenings and weekends when necessary, including occasional overnight travel.
• MUST reside in the State of Michigan and be willing to work onsite in the East Lansing office, 2-3 days a week.
• Occasional travel to our other locations in Michigan and/or Ohio may be required.
  
  
  

Preferred Requirements

• CPA/CMA and/or MBA strongly preferred.
• Experience in development & construction of new business locations preferred: project accounting, construction draws, etc.
• 5+ years’ experience leading and supervising others, with the proven ability to develop employees, provide guidance, direction and training, transfer knowledge and promote a positive working environment is preferred.
• Healthcare experience in the senior living space preferred.
