The Purchasing Coordinator will purchase goods and services according to Company policies and procedures. This position will be located in a manufacturing facility environment and office is located out on the production floor.
Duties/Responsibilities
Quote supplies, MRO and services as needed according to departmental and organizational policies and procedures.
Purchase goods and services.
Follow up on Purchase Orders to maintain on-time orders.
Receive goods ensuring appropriate counts and quality.
Coordinate with department managers to maintain inventory levels.
Evaluate vendors based on price, reliability, capability and previous transaction history.
Work with vendors to negotiate volume and cash transaction discounts or other available discounts.
Ensure that purchasing documents are complete, accurate and include appropriate and reasonable terms and conditions.
Maintain pricing histories and other vendor records.
Perform Inventory counts as directed.
Responsible for maintaining parts numbers in data base.
Cleaning and organizing of spare parts storage room in coordination with maintenance department.
May require travel to other SPC plants and/or vendors.
Required Skills/Abilities
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with proven negotiation skills.
Efficient typing skills, with an emphasis on accuracy and legal aspects of purchasing.
Ability to work under pressure.
Ability to compile information and make decisions.
Ability to direct own daily activities
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Excellent time management skills.
Thorough understanding of purchasing procedures and policies.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Experience with Great Plains (GP) a plus.
Forklift certification a plus.
Education And Experience
Four years of purchasing experience is required.
Experience in inventory control a plus.
Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, standing, climbing and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
Must be able to access all areas of the facility to determine purchasing needs.
Ability to comply with safety policies, PPE requirements
