  • The Meals on Wheels Senior Associate Market Meals Specialist works in collaboration with the Volunteers of America staff, volunteers, and other designated outside agencies to provide meal service to at-risk seniors who live independently and will use resources to connect seniors to services needed through referral to vetted services. The Market Meals Specialist will coordinate routing and deliveries of Market Meals with the MOW Senior/Program Manager, the Associate Manager of City Harvest, and other program coordination staff. The Market Meals Specialist will be responsible for oversight of all Market Meals Volunteers, scheduling of Market Meals volunteers and program related reporting. The Market Meals Specialist will also maintain an assigned base of Meals On Wheels clients along with the Market Meals client base for assessments, reassessments, and other required client services.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Establishes trusting relations with coworkers, peers, and program participants.
  • Actively works cooperatively and collaborates with members of the team to serve program participants in a comprehensive, effective, and caring way.
  • Maintains a caseload of @200-300 MOW & Market Meal clients by providing intake services, reassessments, and ongoing referral services.
  • Hold outer county teams accountable for adhering to intake procedures and maintaining accurate client records. (e.g. MOW Master Client List and off-site provider Master Lists for Adams, Georgetown/Idaho Springs, Douglas County, Eastern Plains, Evergreen and Gilpin County)
  • Provide guidance and support to outer county teams as needed to ensure compliance with organizational standards.
  • Occasionally fill in on client routes, if needed, to maintain service continuity and ensure client needs are met.
  • Utilize your ability to research and provide meaningful resources to the team for the betterment of clients, such as identifying relevant community resources, educational materials, or support services.
  • Communicate effectively with team members to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and cohesion in all aspects of client support and engagement initiatives.
  • Initiates queries on customer concerns and forwards to appropriate management.
  • Assist the Program Manager with daily duties as necessary.
  • Work with the Program Manager and Data Support Specialist to manage the client waitlist.
  • Maintains and ensures confidentiality of all program participant information.
  • Schedule reassessments to program participants; coordinate service plans, prepare corresponding paperwork, documentation and follow- up on client progress.
  • Handle crisis situations in a calm and professional manner, takes appropriate action and reports critical incidents as required.
  • Resolves customer concerns, issue credits and reschedule deliveries as needed.
  • Assumes MOW Volunteer Specialist responsibilities as needed, providing direction, coordination, and consultation for volunteer functions within the Meals on wheels program.
  • Prepares and maintains reporting sheets, site logs, waiting list and end of the month reports.
  • Attends and participate in staff meetings, trainings, seminars, and resource fairs.
  • Maintains Market Meal volunteer base to include weekly scheduling of route deliveries and Market Meal production.
  • Produces and distributes all Market Meal internal reports to the appropriate VOAC staff in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Stages all Saturday frozen meals for MOW and Market Meals distribution – (removal of food pallets or carts from freezers to distribution areas)
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications of Position

  • Associates degree in gerontology, human services, social work, or a related field OR equivalent work experience in a similar role.
  • Strong ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment in decision-making.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and database management.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with attention to detail.
  • Ability to research and connect clients with community resources effectively.
  • Must obtain forklift certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Valid Colorado driver’s license, reliable personal transportation, and state-mandated automobile insurance.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. repeatedly during meal deliveries and move pallets as needed.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays as required.
  • Ability to handle crisis situations professionally and maintain confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications Of Position

  • Possess an ability to listen effectively and respond creatively to program participant issues.
  • Experience with manual or electric pallet jacks and/or lift trucks or forklifts preferred.
  • One year of volunteer management experience
  • Fluent in Spanish preferred.

  • Poise and diplomacy in contact with the agency, clients, donors, other service providers and all regulatory agencies and funding sources.

Working Conditions And Physical Requirements

  • While performing the duties of this position the employee is regularly required to answer a high volume of telephone calls.
  • Deliver meals to clients as needed and may need to lift up to 25 lbs. repeatedly during deliveries.
  • Occasional use of hand trucks and/or electric pallet jacks will be required
  • Travel utilizing personal vehicle may be required.
  • Extended periods of sitting at a desk may be required.
  • The noise level is usually low to moderate.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

  • Full Time
  • Tuesday – Friday 7:30 am- 5:00 pm, Saturday 8am to 12 pm, and designated holidays.
  • Evening and/or weekend hours may be required based on program events or assigned job duties.
