Description
Element Electronics is looking for an experienced Senior Regulatory Specialist to join our team. In this role, the candidate will ensure that all products under the parent company umbrella – including consumer electronics, appliances, outdoor cookware and home monitoring - are compliant with applicable chemical/environmental, battery, energy and safety regulations across North American markets. The candidate will be responsible for researching and collaborating with cross functional partners to execute regulatory strategies aligned with business needs.
A successful candidate will have the ability to research and navigate complex product regulations at the federal and state levels to ensure compliance regarding new and existing products, product packaging and websites. They are expected to identify potential gaps in compliance procedures and develop strategies to address them effectively. In addition, the candidate will create an action plan for product data automation including data collection, record keeping and transition to a new automated system that will include data tools and an ERP system (e.g., Net Suite).
The successful candidate will have a proven record of driving strategic direction through effective project management, change oversight and cross-functional collaboration. They will closely collaborate with overseas suppliers, product, engineering and legal teams to ensure products across the entire organization are compliant with applicable regulations. They will also be required to communicate with various departments and teams to educate them on crucial product compliance requirements.
Preferred Responsibilities
Prior work experience in the consumer electronics or appliance industry is preferred, with demonstrable knowledge of related product laws. Working knowledge of data analytics tools, product management software, and data presentation tools is also essential. Other responsibilities are:

- Review new and existing products to ensure they meet applicable product regulations
- Research regulatory compliance requirements applicable to new products and communicate the findings to the production, engineering and legal teams
- Stay abreast of federal and state product laws to ensure compliance and minimize production delays in case of any changes in regulations
- Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for working with internal teams including product, engineering and marketing
- Track ongoing supplier product testing and ensure appropriate record retention
- Develop processes and identify/implement tools to improve speed of new product evaluations
- Assist internal teams by sharing information regarding product regulation and compliance
- A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a similar role within the consumer electronics/appliance industry or at a third-party consultant/testing lab
- At least 5 years of experience in the review of advertising and promotional materials
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering, Chemistry, or a closely-related field
- Working knowledge of product specifications, lifecycle management and ERP systems
- Experience with product compliance software
- Working knowledge of product data management tools including ERP
- Proficiency in using MS Office suite including PowerPoint skills
- Strong written and verbal communications skills
- Strength in communication of technical information to non-technical and executive level audiences
