Union Home Mortgage’s L.E.A.D Internship Program’s goal is to provide a fun, interesting, and real-world environment for our interns to Learn about the industry, be Educated by Sr. Leadership and their peers, Achieve their personal goals and Develop their skills and knowledge base. We pride ourselves in providing innovative programs for our interns in order for them to learn and grow they progress through their careers. Some of the programs we offer include: shadowing, mentoring, professional development, group projects and we even take our interns on corporate outings! Our internship program gives students a chance to meet new people, gain more experience, and learn from the best in the business! Our interns are treated like full-time Partners who work 40 hours a week during the 3-month summer program, are compensated, and based out of headquarters in Strongsville, Ohio.

An AI Engineer Intern is responsible for transforming mortgage operations by enhancing efficiency in loan origination and servicing while improving customer experience and retention.

In this role, you will design, develop, and deploy cutting-edge AI solutions to optimize complex workflows, reduce manual processes, and deliver seamless, personalized borrower interactions. Your expertise will directly contribute to faster loan processing, reduced loan manufacturing costs, and more efficient servicing operations.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Automate Repetitive Tasks- Identify manual processes and develop AI tools to reduce human effort
  • Speed up Workflows - Build systems to simplify decision-making and prioritize tasks
  • Minimize Errors - Implement checks to improve data accuracy and consistency
  • Ensure Compliance - Integrate safeguards to align AI systems with regulations
  • Collaborate Across Teams - Partner with stakeholders to align AI solutions with business goals
  • Maintain Systems - Monitor AI tools and refine them for ongoing efficiency
  • Stay Current – Keep up with the latest developments in AI and apply new techniques as appropriate

Qualifications

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Programming skills in Python, R or similar language
  • Self-motivated with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Analytical thinker

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics or related field
  • Experience with machine learning libraries and frameworks
  • Basic knowledge of linear algebra, calculus probabilities, and statistics as they apply to machine learning
