Job Summary:
The Employee Relations Specialist is responsible for coordinating employee relations services, including handling employee complaints, conducting investigations of alleged employee misconduct, managing the termination and/or nonrenewal of employment, and interpreting/administering the hospital policies.
Education:
Required:
Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Psychology, Business or related field.
Master's degree preferred.
Experience:
Required:
3 years of related experience in human resources/employee relations issues required.
Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Windows and Microsoft Word.
Preferred:
Relevant HR experience in the area of employee relations
SHRM-CP or PHR

Department Position Summary:
The Employee Relations Specialist in Employee Relations serves as the contact person for managers and staff regarding employee relations issues.
Duties will include counseling employees and managers to resolve conflict, and interpret policy, procedures, federal and state laws regarding employment. The Employee Relations Specialist will be responsible for conducting investigations related to employee misconduct, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and sexual misconduct cases. Creating comprehensive investigative summary reports. Tracking the activity of the Employee Relations and reporting the statistics monthly to the Director. Other areas of responsibility include maintaining accurate employee relations statistics, educating managers on employment law and hospital policies and keeping management informed of potential problems in the organization.
The Employee Relations Specialist must possess good interpersonal, communication and listening skills. This individual must have a good understanding of Employment Law, hospital policies and procedures. He/she will show respect to all individuals in counseling sessions regardless of the issue at hand. The Employee Relations Specialist should possess exemplary telephone etiquette and be able to handle multiple tasks at one time. Must have excellent counseling, negotiating and organizational skills. Must be able to perform well under pressure and meet deadlines. Organizes tasks well, sets priorities appropriately to best meet the departmental/ organizational goals. Ability to maintain a professional demeanor when confronted with adversity. Assures professional & efficient office atmosphere. Possesses a strong teamwork attitude.
