Job Description: Oracle Database Support Engineer (Azure Gov Cloud)

About The Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Oracle Database Support Engineer to join our growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and performance tuning of our critical Oracle database systems, running in our Azure cloud environment using Azure IAAS OCI Deployment. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the availability, security, and integrity of our data, supporting our ITAR compliant applications, and contributing to our cloud modernization initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Installation and Configuration: Install, configure, and maintain Oracle database software.
  • Database Administration: Perform routine database administration tasks, including user management, schema management, tablespace management, backup and recovery, and performance monitoring.
  • Troubleshooting and Problem Solving: Diagnose and resolve database-related issues, including performance bottlenecks, connectivity problems, and data corruption.
  • Performance Tuning: Proactively monitor database performance and implement tuning strategies to optimize query execution and resource utilization.
  • Security Management: Implement and enforce security policies and procedures to protect sensitive data, including user access controls, password management, and auditing.
  • Backup and Recovery: Develop and implement backup and recovery strategies to ensure business continuity and data recoverability.
  • Cloud Migration Support: Participate in cloud migration projects, including schema migration, data validation, and performance testing in the Azure environment.
  • Compliance and Security: Adhere to ITAR compliance requirements and implement security measures to protect sensitive data.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of database configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
  • On-Call Support: Provide on-call support for critical database issues as needed.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with application developers, system administrators, and other IT staff to ensure seamless integration of database systems.


Required Skills And Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in Oracle database administration.
  • Strong understanding of Oracle database architecture, including database internals, storage management, and networking.
  • Proficiency in SQL and PL/SQL programming languages.
  • Experience with Oracle database performance tuning and optimization.
  • Experience with Oracle backup and recovery tools and techniques.
  • Experience with Oracle database security management.
  • Experience with cloud environments, preferably Azure.
  • Knowledge of ITAR compliance requirements is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.


Preferred Skills

  • Oracle certifications (e.g., Oracle Certified Database Administrator).
  • Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, shell scripting).
  • Experience with database monitoring tools.


Pay Rate Range

Min Pay Rate Max Pay Rate Currency Unit 54.43 60.48 USD hourly
