Children's Attention Home (CAH), located in Rock Hill, SC, is seeking a dedicated and qualified leader to serve as the Executive Director. CAH provides temporary shelter, compassionate care, and individualized support to children from birth to age 21 across South Carolina who have experienced abuse or neglect. We are looking for an experienced, mission-driven leader to guide the organization through its next phase of growth and impact.

Position Overview: The Executive Director will lead CAH in the development and execution of strategic goals, ensuring alignment with the organization's mission and values. The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record in leadership, community-building, business management, fundraising, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management:

  • Provide inspirational leadership to staff and guide the development and execution of short- and long-term goals.
  • Oversee the recruitment, training, team-building, supervision, and evaluation of CAH staff.
  • Foster a positive organizational culture and ensure high levels of employee engagement and satisfaction.

Business Management

  • Manage the financial operations of CAH, including the creation and implementation of the annual budget and asset preservation plans.
  • Oversee HR functions, including staffing, compliance with labor laws, and employee relations.
  • Manage contractual agreements and build relationships with community partners to support the mission.

Fundraising & Development

  • Lead the development and execution of CAH's annual fundraising strategy.
  • Cultivate relationships with individual donors, foundations, and corporate partners to sustain and grow financial support.
  • Oversee the organization of special fundraising events and the creation of proposals and reports for grants and corporate giving.

Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure that all programs meet the regulatory compliance standards established by state and federal contracts and the Council on Accreditation.
  • Continuously monitor changes in relevant policies and ensure that programs are aligned with DSS and other governmental requirements.

Board Of Directors Support

  • Attend all Board meetings and provide regular reporting on CAH's operations and finances and assist the Chairman and Board of Directors in setting organizational goals and executing strategic initiatives.
  • Support Board Development in recruiting and orienting new members, ensuring they have the skills necessary to support CAH's mission.
  • Recommend policies, programs, and strategic plans that align with the vision of CAH and implement Board decisions.

Program Management & Quality Improvement

  • Oversee the operation of all CAH programs, ensuring they are ethical, effective, and aligned with the organization's mission and values.
  • Complete an annual formal review of programs to assess goals, cost, and outcomes.
  • Lead continuous quality improvement efforts across all programs to enhance service delivery and impact.

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Master's Degree in business, social work, or a related field required.
  • At least 5 years of executive leadership experience in nonprofit management, child welfare, or a related field, with demonstrated success in overseeing a team of 20 or more employees.
  • Proven experience in financial management, including budget development, fiscal oversight, and managing organizational sustainability.
  • Significant experience working directly with Boards of Directors, including strategic planning, governance, and reporting.
  • Strong fundraising background, including experience in developing and executing annual fundraising plans, cultivating donors, writing grants, and organizing special fundraising events.
  • Knowledge of child welfare laws, social services, and best practices in the care of vulnerable children.
  • Experience working in environments that require compliance with state and federal regulations, particularly within child welfare services.
  • Experience in managing programs that support children and families, with a demonstrated ability to evaluate outcomes and implement quality improvements.

  • Public Speaking & CommunicationStrong communication skills with the ability to present effectively to diverse audiences, including community leadersdonorsgovernment officials, and advocates. Skilled in public relations and the ability to represent CAH at public events and media opportunities.
  • Program ManagementAbility to oversee and manage programs that meet both the immediate and long-term needs of the children served. Familiarity with best practices in child welfare and the ability to implement and manage continuous quality improvement processes
  • Community RelationsDemonstrated experience in developing partnerships with local
  • government officialsschool systemslaw enforcement, and other community-based organizations to support the needs of children and families.
