Summary

Directly responsible for research, implementation and measurement of change initiatives that will ensure a sustained, long term operation. Identifies and develops advanced improvement processes or projects that will significantly impact organizational objectives. Responsible for strategic continuous improvement projects within multiple plant sites and developing and contributing to the Associated Materials Continuous Improvement System (AMCI System). Participate with management team members in training efforts, succession planning and developmental opportunities of staff.

Day-to-day Responsibilities

  • Drive targeted, sustainable improvements in quality, delivery and cost.
  • Ensure effective management system processes are established and implemented to support continuous improvement efforts.
  • Coordinate and implement quality control objectives, activities, or procedures to resolve production problems, maximize production reliability, or minimize costs.
  • Encourage learning and experience to aid continual improvement by providing formal and informal training and coaching.
  • Review production schedules, engineering specifications, orders, and related information to obtain knowledge of manufacturing methods, procedures, and activities.
  • Manage and coordinate process re-engineering activities to improve efficiencies and consistency with the operation.
  • Plan and establish sequence of operations to fabricate and assemble products to promote efficient utilization.
  • Monitors and benchmarks performance against the business strategy metrics and collaborates with the site maintenance and operations on continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Estimate production costs, cost saving methods, and the effects of product design changes on expenditures for management review, action, and control.
  • Promote and facilitate diagnosis of work flow impediments and other wastes throughout the business, and provide guidance on appropriate tools to eliminate them.
  • Responsible for: developing people; improving processes; reducing costs; quality monitoring and improvements; new product development and implementation; superior customer service; and on-time delivery.
  • Reviews activity reports and financial statements to determine progress and status in attaining objectives and revises objectives and plans in accordance with current conditions.
  • Ensures vision and values into day-to-day activities and behaviors; guides and motivates others
  • Participates in the leadership development program.
  • Executes AMI’s objectives, meeting commitments and working within the guidelines.

Education And Experience

  • Three (3+) plus years related experience and/or training
  • 50% travel + is required for this role
  • Window and/or door industry or other manufacturing experience preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering required
  • Read, write and understand the English language
  • Thorough understanding of continuous improvement processes, such as Lean Manufacturing or 5S.
  • Sense of urgency and self-motivation
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to motivate employees to achieve results
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Computer literacy with ability to learn new computer software programs
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to present to senior management
  • Attention to detail with strong organizational skills

Work Environment

The atmosphere is that of a manufacturing plant and office space. The position will primarily work where moving machinery produces noise. Employees must wear Personal Protective Equipment that is issued for that location. Temperature can range from extreme cold to extreme heat. Frequent use of company communication devices are required such as a computer, phone, and other office electronics.
