The Staff Accountant & Business Intelligence Analyst provides direct support to the Senior Staff Accountant, Controller, and the Dewey’s team. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, assists with budgeting and audits, and leverages data analytics to drive business decisions. By combining traditional accounting with data visualization, this position helps track financial performance, optimize processes, and improve decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Senior Staff Accountant, Controller, and finance team with accounting and reporting.
• Maintain journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial reports in line with closing schedules.
• Assist in lease accounting, tax documentation, and budget preparation.
• Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and data visualizations to provide key business insights.
• Extract and analyze data from internal and external sources (POS, loyalty platforms, etc.).
• Automate reporting processes to improve efficiency.
• Perform, review, and approve daily store audits.
• Maintain organized financial records for tax filings, licenses, and permits.
• Support annual audits, gathering and preparing necessary documents.
• Troubleshoot and resolve accounting system or BI tool issues.
• Contribute to process improvements and cross-functional initiatives.

Requirements

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 2+ years of accounting experience (restaurant/hospitality industry experience preferred).
• Strong knowledge of GAAP.
• CPA certification or active pursuit of CPA is preferred
  
  

Skills & Abilities

• Experience with general ledger accounting software and financial reporting tools.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, macros).
• Experience with Power BI (or similar data visualization tools).
• Familiarity with Power Automate (or other workflow automation tools) is a plus.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.
• Ability to collaborate across teams and present insights effectively.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  
  

Work Environment & Other Requirements

• Hybrid schedule – 2 days remote, 3 days in person.
• Full-time
• Cincinnati-based candidates are highly preferred.

Salary Description

$65,000 - $75,000
