National Bridge Inspection Standards (NBIS) Civil Engineer

We are seeking an experienced NBIS Civil Engineer to join our team. This role involves overseeing bridge inspection programs, ensuring compliance with National Bridge Inspection Standards (NBIS), and contributing to the development of safe and reliable transportation networks.

Your Role As a NBIS Civil Engineer

  • Conduct and oversee bridge inspections in accordance with NBIS requirements.
  • Prepare detailed reports and recommendations based on inspection findings.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local bridge safety regulations.
  • Utilize structural analysis and inspection software to evaluate bridge conditions.
  • Collaborate with state and local agencies, contractors, and internal teams.
  • Assist in developing bridge maintenance and rehabilitation plans.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and inspection teams.

Requirements

What You Need to Succeed:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field.
  • Certified Bridge Inspection Team Leader (Preferred).
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in bridge inspection and structural evaluation. (Preferred)
  • Proficiency in bridge inspection software and structural analysis tools.
  • Strong knowledge of NBIS regulations and FHWA guidelines.
  • Proficiency in and/or capability to learn Autodesk Civil 3D, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel.

What You’ll Contribute

  • Ability to travel and spend 4 overnights per week (5-day work week) for up to 1 month at a time (weekends off).
  • Ability to perform fieldwork tasks as directed by supervisor for up to 12 hours per day in all types of weather.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
