Job Summary

A research and development (R&D) technician will support our seasoned researchers and lab team in the creation of exceptional seasoning blends. Employing your meticulous attention to detail, you will assist in precise measurement and mixing of dry ingredients, contributing to the development of high-quality products. They compute formulas, percentages or production-specific factors using chemical and mathematical procedures. Additionally, R&D technician supports commercialization of products by working with marketing and sales teams within the framework of the stage-gate process. Essential Functions and Responsibilities 

  • Operate and maintain lab equipment used in dry ingredient blending.
  • Accurately measure and prepare dry ingredients for blending processes. 
  • Collaborate with senior technicians to maintain an organized and efficient lab workspace.
  • Assist in documenting blending processes, measurements, and observations. 
  • Support the development and maintenance of seasoning blend recipes. 
  • Execute instructions from the research team to ensure consistent product quality. 
  • Perform routine quality checks to ensure blends meet specifications. 
  • Participate in training programs to enhance your skills and expertise. 
  • Develop and maintain recipes
  • Embrace a safety-first mindset and adhere to lab safety protocols.

Required Skills / Abilities

  • A passion for the culinary arts and an interest in food product development.
  • Team player that puts safety first.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred but not required. 
  • Highly self-motivated individual, focused on providing quality laboratory data in an efficient manner with the ability to exhibit excellent workplace leadership in the pursuit of site goals, project goals, and site/company workplace initiatives.
  • Strong organizational skills and an eye for detail.
  • An eagerness to learn and work collaboratively within a team.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor Degree in Food Technology or a related applied science, preferred but not required
  • Associates Degree in Food Technology or a related applied science required.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in the food industry.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in testing techniques, preferred but not required. 
  • Solid understanding of Microsoft Excel and Word.
