Purpose Brands, the parent company of Orangetheory, Anytime Fitness, Waxing the City, The Bar Method, and Basecamp Fitness, is seeking a Manager of Analytics to join its Data and Analytics team. This is a manager-level role with an initial focus on individual contribution. The Manager will own and lead critical analytics processes that are highly visible across the organization - namely, monthly operational performance analysis and forecasting for our portfolio brands. The role also supports ad-hoc analytics needs, which often span multiple teams or fall outside clear ownership lanes.
This person will need to bring strong business acumen, the ability to synthesize and communicate performance insights, and a collaborative mindset. While not immediately responsible for managing people, this role may evolve into a people leadership position over time.
This role is embedded within the centralized Purpose Brands Analytics team and collaborates closely with both brand-level and cross-brand stakeholders.
Purpose/Impact: (Duties & Essential Functions)KPI Analysis and Performance Narrative
- Own the monthly KPI analysis and performance storytelling process.
- Coordinate across analytic sub-pillars and collaborate with other team members to deliver cohesive narratives.
- Collaborate with the Reporting Team to create, maintain, and evolve executive-level dashboards and performance insights.
- Continuously refine and streamline how performance is communicated across the organization.
- Develop portfolio analysis that allows operations and development teams to Intelligently target studios or clubs for support.
Forecasting
- Lead member forecasting for Orangetheory, with the ability to expand forecasting capabilities to additional brands as data maturity and organizational needs evolve.
- Collaborates closely with finance and brand leadership.
Ad-Hoc Analysis
- Conduct deep-dive analysis and generate insights that extend from monthly KPI reviews.
- Coordinate and delegate additional ad-hoc analyses to other analysts as appropriate.
- Identify and evaluate new KPI opportunities
Performance Expectations
- Organizes analytics work. Identifies and spells out the analytic approach or lines of inquiry first.
- Makes accurate inferences from data. Knows what the data says and what it doesn’t say and is transparent about shortcomings of the data. Suggests further analysis paths if answer is not sufficiently conclusive.
- Shows interest and can speak the language of the business domain they are supporting (e.g., marketing, finance, operations). When presenting findings business stakeholders follow.
- Is recognized by business stakeholders as their analytics partner whom they can rely on for developing data-informed insights.
- Applies and ensures team members follow reporting and analytics standards and general best practices.
- Participates in creating reporting and analytics standards, identifying, coaching, and teaching analysis methods.
- Ensures stakeholders and those they are engaged with have a thorough knowledge of relevant data domains, metrics etc. and understand the quality and reliability of the source data.
- Collaborate with other leaders on the team to recruit talent to the Analytics team. This includes promoting Analytics positions, weighing in on skills needed, screening and interviewing candidates, and making hiring decisions.
- Coach team members to develop business understanding, problem framing, analysis, teamwork, and communication skills to perform at the next level.
Strengths and Background
- BS/BA in computer science, statistics, mathematics, business administration, economics, or related field with a focus on logic and quantitative analysis.
- 6 – 8 years of experience in reporting and analysis.
- Strong working knowledge of SQL and Excel; fluency in dashboarding tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) a plus.
- Experience working with BI tools and can explain core elements of a reliable BI data infrastructure.
- Familiar with descriptive statistical concepts and their application.
- Prioritizes understanding the application of analytical methodologies over being an expert in applying them.
- Can demonstrate how to effectively communicate findings to stakeholders outside of the field of analytics.
- Seeks to contextualize the work. Enjoys breaking down work not just for self but for others.Can influence the work of others by providing feedback.
- Able to explain several common biases that affect what questions are asked, which data is looked at and how results are interpreted.
- Able to identify and share ideas on what good management and leadership looks like. Those ideas are compatible with Purpose Brands’ ideals.
- Ability to contrast meaningful and poor metrics or KPI’s.
- Good interpersonal skills; seeks to understand others’ viewpoints, motivations, ways of thinking.
- Has informally mentored others within or outside of the analytics or business domain or has some supervisory experience.Shows curiosity about the industry and can explain how Purpose Brands’ portfolio of companies are differentiated.
- Can articulate the goals and strategic imperatives for brands within the Purpose Brands portfolio.
Salary Range: $130k - $150k
