SUPERVISOR: Director of Instructional Technology

Work Year: 12 months, 8 hours per day

Salary: $72,000, paid sick, personal, holidays, and vacation, and access to Benefits/Premiums

FUNCTION: Under delegated authority from the Director of Instructional Technology, works in conjunction with the Data Support Specialist and the Curriculum Department to implement and manage the Student Information System, as well as other District data systems and platforms.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience, preferably in a school district
  • Ability to work with a wide variety of users in an education environment
  • Background in data analysis
  • Experience using student information systems (Infinite Campus preferred), financial systems, and human resource systems preferred
  • Background in user training, troubleshooting, and system management
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in database management using SQL and Microsoft Reporting Services
  • Knowledge of systems including macOS, Windows, Active Directory/Azure, and Google Workspace
  • Ability to prioritize tasks
  • Familiarity with report writing
  • Excellent written, verbal, and communication skills

Responsibilities

System Management & Administration:

  • SIS Maintenance: Manage and maintain the district's Student Information System (SIS) to ensure data integrity, accuracy, and security.
  • System Upgrades & Implementation: Plan, test, and implement SIS updates, upgrades, and new modules, coordinating with vendors and district staff.
  • Workflows and Forms: Creates and manages system workflows and forms (including registration and residency)
  • User Management: Create and manage user accounts, permissions, and access levels within the SIS and other platforms (e.g., Active Directory/Azure).
  • Troubleshooting & Support: Provide technical support and troubleshooting for SIS users, resolving issues related to data entry, reporting, and system functionality.
  • Documentation: Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for SIS procedures, user guides, and training materials.
  • Vendor Liaison: Serve as the primary point of contact for the SIS vendor, communicating issues, requesting support, and participating in product development discussions.
  • Data Integration: Manage data integrations between the SIS and other district systems (e.g., curricular resources, assessment, transportation).
  • Data Backup and Recovery: Implement and maintain data backup and recovery procedures to ensure data security and availability.

Data Management & Reporting

  • Data Entry & Validation: Establish and enforce data entry standards and procedures, ensuring data accuracy and consistency.
  • Data Auditing & Quality Control: Conduct regular data audits to identify and correct errors, inconsistencies, and duplicates.
  • District Reporting: Generate and distribute custom reports for district administrators, teachers, and staff, providing data for decision-making.
  • Data Analysis: Analyze student data to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement.
  • Data Privacy & Security: Ensure the security and confidentiality of all district data and compliance with all applicable data privacy laws and regulations (e.g., FERPA, COPPA, SOPPA).
  • Data/Digital Document Warehousing: Contribute to the development and maintenance of a data/digital document warehouse or data repository for district-wide data analysis.
  • Data Visualization: Create and utilize data visualizations (charts, graphs, dashboards) to effectively communicate data insights.

Training & Support

  • User Training: Develop and deliver training programs for SIS users, including teachers, administrators, and support staff.
  • Ongoing Support: Provide ongoing support and guidance to SIS users, answering questions and resolving issues.
  • Professional Development: Stay current with SIS updates, best practices, and industry trends through professional development opportunities.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Collaboration with District Staff: Collaborate with district administrators, Data Support Specialists, teachers, and support staff to ensure the SIS meets their needs.
  • Teamwork: Work collaboratively with other technology staff to support district-wide technology initiatives.
  • Participate in meetings: Attend district and departmental meetings as required.

Other Responsibilities

  • Policy Development: Contribute to the development and implementation of district policies and procedures related to student data management.
  • Project Management: Manage projects related to SIS implementation, upgrades, and data initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned: Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
