Join our Legacy
As a key member of the Tracy site’s Engineering Team, the Sr. Plant Engineer reports to the Director of Operations and is responsible for applying engineering principles, practices, and technology-based solutions in full support of safely and efficiently operating the wide range of processing systems, equipment, facilities, and utilities used throughout the food processing site. The primary processing systems supported include Ingredient Handling systems, Fruit Preparation systems, Canning systems, Thermal Processing systems, and Packaging systems. The Sr. Plant Engineer also supports the safe and efficient use of the site’s utilities to include High & Low Voltage Electrical Power and Controls, Boiler Steam Generation, Compressed Air Systems. and Water Management Systems. In addition to supporting these existing systems, the Sr. Plant Engineer identifies, proposes, and leads the execution of capital projects with teams of internal technical resources and expert external solution providers, that fulfill the site’s renovation, expansion, and continuous improvement plans.
Your Contribution to Excellence
- Actively participates and support the Plant’s core principle of maintaining a safe workplace environment for all employees.
- Lead the design and development of best-in-class manufacturing processes to improve operating efficiencies.
- Research, design, modify and test manufacturing methods that lower manufacturing costs. Identify opportunities for innovation by collaborating with equipment manufacturers, operations, and marketing.
- Develop and exhibit competent technical knowledge mastery and expertise of production equipment systems, processes, solutions, and services located on site.
- Provide technical subject matter guidance and support to several customers and stakeholders such as other Engineers, Maintenance Management, Production Management, Packing and Labeling Management.
- Provide engineering support to operations with a strong bias for action in correcting the root cause(s) of system malfunctions and failures. Leverage technical mastery and expertise to deploy creative solutions aimed at resolving or minimizing manufacturing failures to improve overall reliability and decrease system operating costs.
- Manage projects related to safety improvements, quality enhancements, product expansions, legacy system upgrades and/or replacements, facility and utility refurbishments, and an extensive Continuous Improvement (CI) program.
- Lead project teams especially in the aspects concerning design, construction, and maintenance while ensuring that the projects are appropriately managed to achieve business objectives.
- Evaluate manufacturing process by applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, and materials- conferring with equipment vendors and soliciting observations from operators.
- Integrate new technology and environmentally friendly practices into existing processes.
- Prepare project plans, scopes, specifications, requests for quotation (RFQ) and budgetary estimates to include vendor and contractor quotes. Justify, write, present, and submit Capital projects to gain senior management’s approval.
- Collaborate with other internal engineering staff to ensure deliverables are on-time, legal, safe, and environmentally responsible.
- Specify equipment and components used in process equipment, review technical specifications, and ensure good engineering practices are utilized.
- Develop project scopes based on a clear understanding of the stated process goals and established targets through project implementation.
- Develop drawings/designs to meet all building codes, safety, and OSHA standards.
- Provide clear and accurate designs for bidding, fabrication, and construction purposes. Prepare all drawings using acceptable drafting standards/techniques.
- Follow all safety rules and regulations, including active participation in the prompt identification and communication of safety hazards.
- Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices.

What you Bring to the Table
- Bachelor’s degree in industrial, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
- 10 years of technical work experiences within the Industrial, Medical, Military, or Public Utility sectors.
- Practical experiences in designing, engineering, and deploying complex and integrated equipment systems.
- Experienced in successfully multi-tasking several simultaneous projects in various stages of the project life cycle.
- Strong computer skills – Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Project, CAD.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
