Dry Side Production Supervisor

Position Overview:

The Dry Side Production Manager is responsible for overseeing the post-drying stages of air and oven dried human and pet meat snacks production, including harvesting dried meat, slicing, packaging, and readying products for distribution. This role ensures that production goals are met in terms of volume, quality, and cost efficiency from the drying stage to final product delivery.

  • Supervision of Dry Side Production Line:
  • Oversee the post-drying process, including the harvesting, slicing, and packaging.
  • Coordinate operations to ensure timely execution and delivery of finished products.
  • Team Leadership:
  • Lead a team in the handling and processing of dried meat products.
  • Review work, organize training on slicing and packaging techniques.
  • Coordinate team member lines to meet production goals for the day.
  • Quality Assurance:
  • Monitor standards in slicing and packaging, implementing quality control programs.
  • Ensure final products meet company and industry quality standards.
  • Monitor and ensure quantities have been documented in Meat Matrix.
  • Ensure drying room temperatures are set and maintained.
  • Ensure product measurements adhere to customer/company specifications.
  • Deliver organoleptic samples to the Quality Manager.
  • Safety Compliance:
  • Maintain strict adherence to safety protocols, especially in slicing and packaging operations.
  • Conduct safety audits and ensure compliance with health regulations.
  • Ensure all food handling guidelines are enforced and adhered to.
  • Scheduling and Planning:
  • Plan and prioritize dry side operations to minimize delay and maximize performance.
  • Assess manpower and equipment needs post-drying.
  • Inventory Management:
  • Manage inventory levels of finished products and packaging materials.
  • Maintenance Coordination:
  • Coordinate maintenance for slicing and packaging machinery.
  • Perform minor repairs on machinery to facilitate packing as necessary.
  • Reporting:
  • Prepare reports on dry side performance and progress.
  • Receive and implement instructions from the Operations Manager.
  • Identify efficiency issues and suggest improvements.
  • Follow the production plan provided by the Operations Manager.
  • Shelf-Life Monitoring:
  • Understanding and monitoring factors that affect the shelf life of the products post-packaging.
  • Customer Feedback Integration:
  • Utilizing customer feedback to improve the slicing, packaging, and overall quality of the final product.
  • Training:
  • Train new employees in safe and efficient handling of dried products and machinery.
  • Proven experience as Production Supervisor or similar role.
  • Experience in using various types of manufacturing machinery and tools.
  • Organizational and leadership abilities.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated with a results-driven approach.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Deep knowledge of production management.
  • Understanding of quality standards and health & safety regulations.
  • Knowledge of performance evaluation and budgeting concepts.
  • Experience in reporting on key production metrics.
