Cardozo High School, a proud member of D.C. Public Schools (DCPS), is seeking a skilled and adaptable CTE Teacher who will deliver high-quality instruction across a range of Career and Technical Education (CTE) courses. This position is designed to support students in fulfilling graduation requirements through engaging, career-aligned coursework, regardless of whether they are enrolled in a full CTE pathway.

The ideal candidate is a flexible, student-centered educator who can design and adapt curriculum to meet diverse student needs and changing schedules. The candidate must also demonstrate a strong understanding of pedagogical frameworks for non-traditional subject areas and possess a commitment to instructional equity and excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging and rigorous CTE instruction across multiple content areas aligned with students’ graduation plans.
  • Adapt curriculum and instructional strategies to accommodate scheduling shifts and individual student needs.
  • Utilize strong classroom management skills and culturally responsive teaching practices to create an inclusive learning environment.
  • Integrate literacy and numeracy instruction into CTE coursework to support performance on state standardized tests, especially in reading and math.
  • Use data to regularly assess student progress and adjust instruction to support academic growth.
  • Differentiate instruction for English language learners and students from marginalized backgrounds.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and school leadership to support school-wide academic and equity initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records for attendance, grading, and assessment data.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and contribute to a culture of continuous learning.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Valid CTE teaching certification or ability to obtain licensure in D.C.
  • At least 3 years of teaching experience, preferably in a CTE or high school setting.
  • Deep understanding of instructional best practices in CTE and non-traditional content areas.
  • Proven track record of supporting students’ academic achievement and readiness for postsecondary success.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and classroom management skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience working with diverse student populations, including English learners.
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity in education and closing opportunity gaps.
  • Bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish) a plus.
