Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated R&D Technician to join our Research & Development (R&D) team and support the development of new product formulations, product testing, and ingredient functionality research. This entry-level role is ideal for individuals passionate about food science, product development, and sensory evaluation, who want hands-on experience in a fast-paced, innovative environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in food formulation and bench-top development for new and existing food & beverage products.
  • Conduct stability testing, shelf-life studies, and texture analysis to ensure product quality.
  • Support sensory evaluations and collect data on taste, texture, and user experience.
  • Document R&D processes and formulation adjustments.
  • Collaborate with food manufacturing teams to scale up formulations.
  • Maintain lab equipment, ingredient inventory, and compliance with food safety standards (HACCP, FDA, USDA).
  • Stay updated on food innovation trends, sugar alternatives, and regulatory compliance relevant to Lakanto’s product line.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, Nutrition, or a related field.
  • Lab Experience: Familiarity with food formulation, stability testing, and ingredient interactions.
  • Detail-Oriented: Ability to document experiments, follow R&D protocols, and analyze test results.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills to troubleshoot product development challenges, especially in sugar-free and functional food formulations.
  • Collaboration: Excellent communication skills to work with cross-functional teams in food manufacturing and product development.
  • Experience Bonus (Preferred but Not Required): Exposure to pilot plant trials, regulatory documentation, or alternative sweetener applications.

Salary Range

$43-45K – depending on experience
