Position Title: Director of CHB Compliance

Location: Elk Grove Village, IL (Other locations also available: Monterey Park, CA; Fullerton, CA; Forest Park, GA; Mineola, NY; Seattle, WA)

Employment Type: Full-Time

Salary Range: $150,000 – $175,000/year

Position Summary

The Director of CHB Compliance is responsible for overseeing import customs brokerage compliance operations nationwide. Reporting to the Vice President of Corporate Administration, this role ensures adherence to U.S. Customs regulations and requirements of all Participating Government Agencies (PGA). The position requires significant leadership experience and deep industry knowledge, especially in classification, customs bonding, audits, and regulatory matters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and enforce compliance policies, procedures, and programs across all import brokerage operations.
  • Monitor and maintain compliance with U.S. Customs and PGAs.
  • Provide internal regulatory support, guidance, and training.
  • Conduct internal audits, FDA shadow audits, and manage internal control improvements.
  • Monitor CBP-related fees and regulatory deadlines.
  • Assist in filing Petitions for Relief, prior disclosures, protests, PSCs, and entry unlocks.
  • Conduct classification reviews and support clients with regulatory needs.
  • Review and maintain broker-related records and ACE Portal management.
  • Collaborate with sales teams and clients as a subject matter expert.
  • Lead classification projects and assist importers with PGA requirements.
  • Provide support to bonded CFS stations and ensure full customs compliance.
  • Lead quarterly audits and issue compliance scorecards and reports.
  • Continuously update brokerage policies and procedures.
  • Manage a team of compliance professionals, including managers and analysts.
  • Support and promote a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Minimum 20 years of experience in customs brokerage or international logistics.
  • Minimum 3 years of managerial or supervisory experience.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations and classification standards.
  • Licensed Customs Broker certification.
  • Experience in policy development, auditing, and compliance management.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
  • Strong communication, presentation, and organizational skills.
  • Experience working with individuals from diverse cultural and language backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of CTPAT Minimum Security Criteria.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret complex compliance regulations.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Primarily office-based in a climate-controlled environment.
  • Occasionally required to lift and move objects up to 35 pounds.

  • 99% on-site attendance required for this position.
