Position Summary

Assists with ensuring proper operation, maintenance, and renovation of various Licking Memorial properties. Tasks will include managing staff, light construction projects, plumbing, refrigeration, electrical, painting, general carpentry, and ensures the testing and maintenance of various systems and equipment is current. Assumes additional responsibility as directed in the absence of the Assistant Vice President of Engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Works with Process Improvement, Safety & Security to ensure the hospital is in compliance with all TJC, DNV, ISO, federal, state, and local codes and requirements pertaining to buildings and operations.
  • Ensures that all necessary records are maintained to comply with TJC, DNV, ISO, federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Provides regular updates to customers regarding the status and estimated completion dates of customers’ projects.
  • Communicates with vendors regarding purchases of supplies and equipment and uses information to maintain proper inventory of supplies and materials.
  • Regularly inspects and evaluates worksites of maintenance and construction activities to ensure duties are performed in accordance with all applicable building codes and regulations.
  • Assists the Assistant Vice President of Engineering in planning, estimating, and directing construction and remodeling projects.
  • Coordinates with other Engineering Management as needed.
  • Prepares special and required reports for management in the utilization of maintenance personnel, equipment, material, and supplies.
  • Participates in development of unit policies and procedures, as well as operating and capital expense budgets. Upon approval, administer and monitor adherence to it.
  • Establishes department objectives and periodically reviews progress with Director of Facilities.
  • Participates in developing recommendations regarding replacement of existing equipment and purchase of new equipment.
  • Keeps current on relevant codes pertaining to maintenance of buildings and equipment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Work requires advanced technical and/or specialized knowledge, equivalent to that which would be obtained through 2-3 years of post-High School training or education.
  • Nature of responsibilities require 5-7 years of progressively more responsible experience in building and equipment maintenance trades, preferably in a hospital setting.
  • Analytical and problem solving skills are required in order to identify and resolve problems of a highly-technical nature, and to plan performance for and coordinate the activities of a group of skilled and semi-skilled employees engaged in maintenance and/or construction work.
  • Substantial interpersonal skills are required in order to conduct in-service programs, negotiate with vendors, deal with a diverse group of hospital personnel, medical staff, etc.
  • High School diploma required, Bachelors degree preferred
