The HSE Specialist supports the implementation and maintenance of Microbest’s Health, Safety, and Environmental programs to ensure a safe and compliant work environment. This role focuses on promoting a safety-first culture, reducing workplace hazards, managing safety training, maintaining compliance with OSHA and environmental regulations, and driving continuous improvement in safety performance across the organization.

Position Summary:
The HSE Specialist supports the implementation and maintenance of Microbest’s Health, Safety, and Environmental programs to ensure a safe and compliant work environment. This role focuses on promoting a safety-first culture, reducing workplace hazards, managing safety training, maintaining compliance with OSHA and environmental regulations, and driving continuous improvement in safety performance across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments of the facility, equipment, and processes.
- Assist in developing and maintaining EH&S policies, procedures, and programs that meet regulatory and company standards.
- Lead and document accident/incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective/preventive actions.
- Maintain OSHA logs, SDS documentation, and environmental compliance records.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental and safety regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA, DEEP).
- Deliver and coordinate safety training for employees including new hire orientation, forklift, PPE, Lockout/Tagout, hazard communication, etc.
- Serve as a point of contact for external safety inspections and audits (OSHA, fire marshal, etc.).
- Assist with emergency preparedness planning, including evacuation drills and chemical spill response.
- Track and analyze safety metrics and trends to identify areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with supervisors and employees to promote best practices and build safety awareness.
- Recommend and implement ergonomic improvements or hazard controls.
Requirements
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or related field preferred. Equivalent experience may be considered.
- 2+ years of experience in safety, health, or environmental compliance in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety management systems.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills (verbal and written) to engage employees at all levels.
- Ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism and discretion.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish or Albanian) a plus.
- Must be able to walk the production floor, climb stairs/ladders, and wear appropriate PPE.
- Occasional lifting (up to 25 lbs) required during inspections or safety audits.
