Position Summary:
The Grants and Program Manager will manage the grant and contract process at NSCH, overseeing the administration of a portfolio of federal, state, local, and private grants, and management and compliance for the full grant life cycle. As the administrator of the online grants management systems and related processes, the Manager ensures data integrity and timely and compliant execution all contracts and paperwork related to grant and contract awards. Further, the Grants and Program Manager will work closely with NSCH staff on the development of clinical and community programs supported by grants and contracts. The Grants and Program Manager must be highly collaborative, adept at building relationships, and have strong program development and project management experience. The Manager will have experience with grants management technology and systems, program development and design, and a commitment to centering the needs and perspectives to fulfill NSCH’s mission to build healthy communities by providing affordable care to all.

Essential Functions
Lead Grants Management Strategy
- Ensure that NSCH grants management practices and approaches are consistent with organizational goals and values
- Lead grants management processes and procedures, facilitating engagement and adoption of best practices across the organization
- Provide assistance in the planning, program design, and budget development of all grant-funded projects
- Assist staff in grant implementation and management, including sustaining and developing internal procedures and funding agency compliance, grant documentation, and assistance with all issues of financial, personnel, payroll, purchasing, reporting and administration of funded awards
- Develop recommendations for assessing, applying for, and reporting on opportunities
- Continually stay abreast of new developments in grants management and use this knowledge to enhance NSCH grants management strategy and approach
- Work with the Finance team to ensure the seamless integration of grants administration and management and to improve systems
- Maintain ownership of the grants management system, including leadership on all back-end functions and management of improvements
- Serve as primary agency grant contact for all federal and state funders
- Maintain SAM and HRSA entity registration on behalf of the organization through the appropriate online systems
- Oversee data compilation to inform improved service delivery, financial efficiency, and increased funding opportunities
- Develop, implement and comply with grants-related policies and procedures at the applicable federal, state, and organizational levels
- Work closely with the finance team to ensure accurate spending and invoicing for all grants
- Provide guidance for internal and external program audits and reviews
- Ensure that grant expenditures are reasonable, allocable, and allowable according to agency guidelines
- Use appropriate technology and data systems to manage and monitor grants
- Attend and participate in professional development opportunities
- Engage with the communications team to ensure all external organizational communications are consistent and meet any grant requirements
- Collaborate with NSCH staff in the design, development, and evaluation of clinical and community programs
- Provide support to staff in programmatic progress reports for grants
- Supervise Grant Writer which includes hiring, training, goal setting, delegation, accountability for performance, monitoring progress, coaching, and providing feedback
- Establish team goals, priorities and work plans that align with organizational goals and provide opportunities for individual growth and development
- Work with Grant Writer in vetting funding prospects and reviewing draft funding letters of intent and proposals
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field preferred (public health)
- Three years of experience in complex grant management (federal, state and private foundations), finance, nonprofit administration, and/or fundraising and development, preferably in a healthcare setting; OR
- Any combination of experience in the areas of grant development, grant monitoring, nonprofit finance, nonprofit administration, fundraising or development equivalent to at least three years
- Extensive experience in administration of the full grant lifecycle with a deep understanding of state and federal grantmaking processes and related financial and compliance issues
- Experience overseeing grants management databases, including making fixes and upgrades as a systems administrator
- Ability to be in detail and also step back and provide overall program management
- Commitment to furthering the agency’s mission
- Supervisory experience
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, effectively solve problems, and identify alternative solutions or implement recommendations in support of goals
- Demonstrated ability to be a collaborative team player, take initiative, be self-motivated, resourceful, flexible, and build strong relationships internally and externally of the organization
- Demonstrate a sensitivity to, and understanding of the diverse socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of patients and staff
- Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office software
- Strong attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
