POSITION SUMMARY:

The Family Services Coordinator is responsible for implementing comprehensive family services that include, outreach and recruitment to community agencies, volunteer services, training, technical assistance, social services and family involvement in accordance with the goals, objectives and performance standards of Early Head Start, Head Start and Child development programs in both direct operated and partner programs.
Essential Functions
- Develop and lead high quality programming that achieves service delivery goals.
- In collaboration with the Director of Health and Family Services, recruit, develop, evaluate, retain and motivate a highly qualified and mission-driven Family Advocate team.
- Work cooperatively with other program managers and staff to support the overall goals and objectives of the program and monitor program implementation correcting any deficiencies.
- Monitor all service area activities, child/family files and other family services including any content area contracts.
- Participate in area-specific and overall program assessment and evaluation.
- Ensure that funding terms and conditions are met which include but are not limited to the following sources: Early Head Start, Head Start, State Preschool, Child Development Programs, and Child and Adult Care Food Program; Prepare and organize data for monthly, annual and other reports required by funding sources.
- Review and evaluate program and content area activities to ensure that Head Start Performance Standards, CDE funding terms and conditions and other applicable state, local and federal regulations are adhered to.
- Develop and implement corrective action plans for areas of non-compliance within service/content areas for both direct operated and partner programs.
- Collaborate with parents and community members to ensure that overall needs of the children and families are being met.
- Conduct or arrange for parent and staff training and technical assistance in service area and in conjunction with other managers.
- Establish and maintain a Family and Community Partnerships Advisory Committee comprised of community professionals and agencies to help the program respond to community needs.
- Establish collaborative relationships with community organizations to promote the access of children and their families to community social services that are responsive to their needs, and to ensure that the program responds to community needs.
- Participate in the development and preparation of the applicable grant applications, including budget development, and the Community Assessment.
- Prepare and update the annual Community Partnership Agreements for related service areas.
- Special projects and other duties as assigned by supervisor.

- The sound administration of the Comprehensive Family Services Department is evident in purposeful and coordinated programs, positive relationships with all stakeholders, compliance with all regulations and contract requirements and efficiency;

- Sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions and to supervise program activities in a wide variety of indoor and outdoor locations
- Must be able to work on a computer for an extended period of time
- Must be able to travel locally for meetings, training and special events

- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major in social work, social welfare, human development, or a related field, Masters’ Degree preferred
- Three years of experience working in a Head Start or other child development program serving low-income children and families, preferred. Additional experience may be substituted for educational requirement
- Experience serving second language and immigrant populations and low-income families
- Strong knowledge of theories and practices of federal/state subsidized programs
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Valid California Driver's License/proof of auto insurance/annual DMV check required
- Criminal record clearance and health requirements that include physical exam, TB and immunizations
- Livescan/fingerprint clearance by the DOJ and CCL agencies
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, database management and other computer programs necessary to perform the duties of the job
