Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology or a closely related field.

Experience

  • 10 years of IT experience of which must have 3 years of supervisory/management experience.

OR

Combined Education And Experience Qualifications

  • An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may substitute for the minimum requirements on a year for year basis.

Other Requirements

  • Must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid IVP fingerprint clearance card by the time of hire
  • At least 1 year of professional Project Management experience

Preferred Requirements

  • Master’s degree in information technology or closely related field
  • Technical certifications from HP (Aruba), Ruckus and Fortinet
  • Knowledge and experience working with SDLC

Essential Job Tasks

  • Analyzes/assesses the organization’s IT requirements (short- and long-term) and recommends acquisitions and/or upgrades to top management.
  • Prepares RFPs (RFQs) and negotiates with top management and vendors.
  • Plans and directs the installation (and upgrading, where needed) of hardware tools, software tools and technologies.
  • With IT Security, helps ensure the safety and security of the organization’s IT network and electronic documents.
  • Performs cost/benefit analyses of IT projects, prepares and presents analyses (i.e., justify spending) to the organization's top management.
  • Continues to learn about new technologies and look for ways to implement them within the organization.
  • Negotiates with technology vendors, contractors to obtain the highest possible level of services for the organization.
  • Organizes, coordinates, and directs IT-management-level personnel (e.g., field techs and network administrator).
  • Determines short- and long-term personnel and training needs for IT.
  • Directs and coordinates a team of tech support specialists.
  • Prioritizes IT-related problems as they come into the Ticket System and escalates when necessary.
  • Assigns problems/tasks to tech support specialists.
  • Regularly analyzes and reviews logs to determine if problems are imminent and develop solutions before, they occur.
  • Analyzes situations and determines resources needed to solve them.
  • Manages IT hardware asset portfolios with respect to risk, cost control, governance, compliance, and performance objectives.
  • Develop and maintain company IT policies and procedures.
  • Plans and implements IT hardware asset life cycle strategy; advises Procurement and IT Operations in procurement strategies for IT hardware acquisition.
  • Serves as IT hardware asset management subject matter expert.
  • Optimizes usage and cost of IT hardware deployments.
  • Manages acquisition, deployment, utilization, tracking, security, and final disposition of IT assets.
  • Motivates a team of tech support personnel via performance assessment and coaching, career planning, and educational goals
  • Supervises tech support quality calibration and validation.
  • Ensures periodic review, analysis of tech support’s performance; identifies opportunities for improvement (with respect to tools, methods, etc.).
  • Facilitates resolution in the case of escalated support requests and engage appropriate support personnel.
  • Communicates orally with customers, vendors and all levels of management.

Working Conditions

Work primarily occurs in a business office setting and the field to provide IT service to all schools. Ability to move objects lifting floor-to-waist (up to 25 pounds) and pushing/pulling (up to 50 pounds). Must be able to bend, kneel and crawl under workstations. Work is performed indoors in an office environment. Considerable repetitive computer functions. Constant interruptions in a high-volume work environment. Work is performed with time pressures and requires handling multiple tasks, frequently changing tasks and interruptions. Extensive public contact via telephone, email and in person. May include travel to offsite locations on an infrequent basis. Work requires the ability to remain in a sitting position for 50% of the time.
