Takkion, a leader in the energy industry with a commitment to "Moving Energy Forward," is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Payroll Senior Manager to oversee and manage all aspects of payroll operations within our organization. The Payroll Senior Manager will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll, compliance with all relevant laws and regulations, and the efficient administration of all payroll-related functions in an environment where Paylocity is the payroll processor. This position requires a strong attention to detail, a deep understanding of payroll processes, and the ability to lead a team.

Key Responsibilities

Payroll Processing:

  • Oversee and process multiple batch entities accurately and timely, including salaried and hourly employees.
  • Ensure that all payroll transactions, deductions, and adjustments are processed accurately.
  • Manage payroll for employees across various locations and departments.
  • Review and verify payroll reports for accuracy.

Payroll Tax Compliance

  • Stay up to date with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations to ensure compliance to support/oversee Paylocity
  • Address any payroll compliance issues and resolve discrepancies.

Good working knowledge of Davis Bacon, Prevailing Wage, and Union Payroll:

  • Possess knowledge of prevailing wage laws and regulations.
  • Ensure accurate payroll processing in compliance with prevailing wage, LCP tracker and union payroll requirements.
  • Stay informed about changes in prevailing wage rates and reporting obligations.
  • Communicate effectively with customers regarding prevailing wage reporting requirements and apprentice ratios.

Team Leadership

  • Lead and mentor the payroll team, providing guidance, support, and training as needed.
  • Manage team performance and assist in setting performance goals for up to 5 direct reports.
  • Promote a positive work environment that fosters collaboration and continuous improvement.

Payroll Systems And Technology

  • Oversee the payroll system and related technologies, ensuring they are up-to-date and efficient.
  • Collaborate with IT and HR teams to implement necessary payroll system improvements or updates.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any payroll system issues.
  • Work closely with Paylocity to ensure payroll related setups and filings are accurate.

Record-Keeping And Reporting

  • Maintain accurate payroll records and documentation for auditing purposes.
  • Prepare payroll-related reports for management, HR, and accounting departments.
  • Analyze payroll data and provide insights to improve processes and cost efficiency.

Vendor And Customer Management

  • Manage relationships with payroll service providers to ensure timely and accurate services.
  • Evaluate and negotiate vendor contracts to ensure cost-effective solutions.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or a related field is a plus.
  • Extensive experience with Davis Bacon and prevailing wage required.
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation is highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in payroll management, including supervisory roles.
  • In-depth knowledge of payroll laws, regulations, tax requirements, and prevailing wage laws.
  • Proficiency with payroll software and systems.
  • Experience with Paylocity a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

Salary Description

$130,000-$150,000
