We are currently looking for a skilled Life Safety & Security Estimator to join our team and help evaluate project specifications and drawings to determine the scope and cost of fire alarm system installations. Duties include analyzing blueprints, conducting site visits, estimating material and labor costs, preparing detailed proposals, and coordinating with vendors, engineers, and clients. . Job Summary:
The Life Safety & Security Estimator is responsible for providing accurate estimates for both self-designed and engineer-designed life safety and security projects. This role involves reviewing standard division 28 systems, producing competitive pricing and scope, and collaborating with structured cabling estimators (division 27) to address project requirements. The estimator generates job numbers, manages submittals, and initiates material orders upon contract award, ensuring clear communication with the project manager and field team.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide accurate estimates for self-designed and engineer-designed life safety and security projects
  • Review requirements for standard division 28 systems and technologies
  • Produce competitive pricing and scope of work for division 26 electrical estimators
  • Collaborate with structured cabling estimators (division 27) to address project requirements
  • Generate job numbers, manage submittals, and initiate material orders upon project award
  • Conduct hand-off meetings with project managers to communicate project scope and requirements
  • Occasionally provide estimates for end-users, service requests, or independent bidding opportunities
Minimum Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D
  • 5 years of combined life safety and security experience
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Intermediate computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to learn estimating software and project management applications (e.g., Procore)
  • Understanding of electrical and building systems (HVAC, elevators, automation)
  • Ability to read and modify blueprints
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sit for long periods while reading from a screen
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs
  • Typing and fine motor skills for system markup and design
  • Clear and professional communication with customers and coworkers
Work Environment:
  • Climate-controlled indoor setting with ergonomic furniture
