Position Summary

The Director, Supply Planning and Fulfillment is a key leadership role responsible for end-to-end supply chain operations, encompassing supply planning, deployment, and order fulfillment. This role ensures seamless coordination across multiple functional areas to meet customer demands, optimize inventory, and deliver high service levels. A critical focus of the role is integrating fulfillment and deployment functions to ensure inventory is strategically positioned and efficiently delivered across the supply chain. The ideal candidate will lead teams in planning and fulfillment while driving process improvements, achieving cost efficiencies, and fostering a high-performing and engaged workforce.

Key Responsibilities and Deliverables Supply Planning (40%)

  • Lead the supply planning team to develop and execute best-in-class supply planning strategies, systems, and processes tailored for the cosmetics industry.
  • Optimize inventory levels across raw materials, packaging, and finished goods to meet service, cost, and inventory targets.
  • Collaborate with procurement to improve purchasing efficiencies and supplier performance through MRP optimization, supplier KPIs, and effective vendor relationships.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure flawless execution of new product launches with sufficient safety stock and efficient inventory planning.
  • Align supply planning strategies with product lifecycles, promotions, and seasonal demand fluctuations.

Fulfillment + Deployment (40%)

  • Customer Order Fulfillment:
    • Drive excellence in order fulfillment processes, ensuring the accurate and timely execution of high-volume sales orders.
    • Manage backorder resolution and oversee timely reconciliation in collaboration with Finance, Distribution Centers (DCs), and Customer Service teams.
    • Ensure compliance with customer-specific requirements, including retailer, distributor, and direct-to-consumer (DTC) fulfillment standards.
    • Enhance the chargeback process by implementing preventive measures, addressing root causes, and ensuring timely resolution to minimize financial impacts.
    • Leverage technology and data analytics to streamline order processing, improve accuracy, and enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Regional Inventory Deployment:
    • Oversee the strategic deployment of inventory across global and regional networks to ensure optimal stock positioning and availability.
    • Design and implement effective allocation strategies between regional DCs
    • Collaborate with Demand Planning and Operations teams to respond to shifting demand patterns, ensuring real-time adjustments to deployment plans.
    • Monitor inventory flow across domestic and international DCs, maintaining alignment with service level agreements (SLAs) and cost objectives.
    • Use data-driven insights to optimize transportation efficiency, reduce lead times, and support inventory accuracy at all DCs
Continuous Improvement & Reporting (15%)

  • Own management control processes for reporting and calendars related to supply planning, deployment, and order fulfillment functions.
  • Identify and implement process improvement opportunities to enhance customer service levels and operational efficiency across planning, deployment, and fulfillment functions.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards and tools for tracking KPIs, including service levels, inventory accuracy, deployment efficiency, and fulfillment metrics.
  • Leverage technology to improve systems, data integrity, and visibility across the supply chain.
  • Evaluate operations to identify opportunities for automation and cost savings in deployment and fulfillment.

Team Leadership & Development (5%)

  • Build and sustain a high-performing, engaged, and empowered team by fostering a culture of accountability, clear goal-setting, and ongoing professional development.
  • Provide coaching, mentorship, and career development opportunities to team members across supply planning, deployment, and fulfillment functions.
  • Promote diversity and inclusion while creating pathways for career growth.

Required Qualifications And Skills

  • Experience: Minimum 8-10 years in supply chain management, supply planning, deployment, or fulfillment leadership roles, with minimum of 3 years at a director level.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems, advanced Excel skills, and familiarity with reporting tools (e.g., Power BI).
  • Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead diverse teams, drive engagement, and implement talent development strategies.
  • Analytical & Problem-Solving: Strong numerical, analytical, and critical thinking skills with the ability to synthesize complex ideas into actionable plans.
  • Collaboration: Exceptional ability to influence and collaborate across functions, including Sales, Marketing, Finance, and Operations.
  • Process Orientation: Expertise in developing repeatable and sustainable planning, deployment, and fulfillment calendars in dynamic, fast-paced environments.
  • Scope of Work: Experience working in multiple regions in a global capacity

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field.
  • APICS or equivalent supply chain certification is a plus.
  • Experience in cosmetics or consumer goods-driven industries is highly desirable.
