We are one of the fastest growing mechanical, HVAC and plumbing contractors in TX. We are entering a period of sustained growth and have an immediate opening for an experienced Project Engineer, working directly under the company's Vice President of Operations. The right candidate will join our company as it nears its 20th -year in business. The top line goal of this position Oversee project planning, scheduling, budgeting and implementation for projects ranging in size from $50,000 – $20 million at assigned job sites across the TX.

Job Details

Job Description -

  • Provide overall management direction for one or multiple projects.
  • Procure equipment and subcontracts while monitoring and accurately projecting job costs.
  • Maintain billing and schedules, ensuring financial accuracy.
  • Offer technical support and leadership to field teams.
  • Oversee daily production in collaboration with the Superintendent.
  • Develop and maintain long-term client relationships to enhance communication and secure future projects.
  • Ensure quality projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Review and verify project estimates for accuracy in the job cost system.
  • Conduct pre-job and ongoing planning meetings to align all project team members with contract terms, schedules, and key project requirements.
  • Document planning meetings and ensure all action items are completed.
  • Keep project schedules updated and accurate.
  • Monitor staffing schedules to align with project timelines.
  • Establish and manage subcontract and equipment buy-outs to support project schedules and budgets.
  • Conduct daily site visits to inspect work, check progress, and address project or contract issues.
  • Identify and resolve significant job-related challenges with corrective measures.
  • Track and manage scope changes to ensure timely incorporation into the project plan.
  • Provide material takeoff, estimates, and pricing for scope changes.
  • Lead and participate in job meetings per company and client guidelines.

Requirements-

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience managing mechanical construction projects
  • renovation experience is a plus.
  • Strong negotiation skills for handling change orders and project presentations.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve complex, multi-faceted project challenges.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong presentation abilities.
  • Proficient in interpreting contracts, plans, specifications, schematic diagrams, and isometric drawings.
  • Skilled in technical and business letter writing.
  • Experience with computerized job cost accounting systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel (intermediate-level skills required).
  • Understanding of financial models for fixed-price, cost-plus, and unit rate/price contracts.
  • Ability to work in job trailers, onsite or offsite office settings, and navigate construction sites safely.
  • Willingness to be on-call as needed, including evenings, weekends, and some holidays.
  • Daily job site presence required to monitor progress, inspect work, and conduct meetings.
