Job Purpose
The HR Generalist will be on-site assisting employees and site management with HR support, providing new hire orientations, payroll submission, benefit administration, maintaining updated employee records and other general HR operational tasks as assigned. This position will report to the Director of Human Resources and will be required to be at the site 4 days a week at our Aurora, IL facility and 1 day a week at Libertyville. IL facility.

The HR Generalist will be on-site assisting employees and site management with HR support, providing new hire orientations, payroll submission, benefit administration, maintaining updated employee records and other general HR operational tasks as assigned. This position will report to the Director of Human Resources and will be required to be at the site 4 days a week at our Aurora, IL facility and 1 day a week at Libertyville. IL facility.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Responsible for maintaining employee records in HRIS System.
- Assist with answering frequently asked questions related to people process and policies.
- Collaborate with internal teams including HR to deliver a strategy to meet hiring targets.
- Ensure all timecards are complete and approved by the weekly deadline.
- Receive and investigate employee inquiries for payroll and benefits issues.
- Lead benefit explanations, leave of absence requests and WC reporting.
- Partner with the Director of Human Resources on the disciplinary process and corrective actions
- Assist employees and site management team with daily HR support.
- Assist HR team to help assess, recommend needed organizational improvements, and reinforce best practices.
- Conduct and/or assist with preparation and/or filing of mandatory reports, audits, EEO-1 filings, and compliance requirements.
- Serve as a key point of contact for union representatives and union employees.
- Interpret and administer the collective bargaining agreement (CBA), ensuring consistent application of its terms and conditions.
- Participate in the grievance process, conducting investigations, facilitating meetings, and working towards resolution.
- Maintain full confidentiality with ethical and professional standards.
- Assists with HR projects and miscellaneous tasks as requested.
- Assists with coordinating company events.
- Bachelor level degree with 2-5 years of support experience within an HR Department.
- Benefits Administration a plus.
- Bi-lingual in English and Spanish required.
- Expert technical skills in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, and the ability to learn new technologies.
- Ability to provide consultation, advice and handle sensitive matters.
- Excellent facilitation, oral and written communication skills; ability to prepare clear and concise reports and deliver formal presentations or training to all levels in the organization.
- Ability to interface with all levels of employees and external entities.
- Must be organized, dependable, professional, and confident.
