The Director of Sourcing is responsible for developing and executing category strategies for Packaging across Ghirardelli and Lindt & Sprüngli (USA), overseeing price forecasting and budgeting, collaborating across functions to support the development and launch of new products, leading cost-saving initiatives, and advancing responsible sourcing and supplier social responsibility in alignment with the Lindt Responsible Sourcing Program.
SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Category Strategy Development and Execution
- Develop category strategies for packaging, focusing on cost, quality, and supplier alignment with organizational goals.
- Conduct market analyses to identify trends, risks, and opportunities in packaging materials sourcing.
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with suppliers, negotiating favorable terms for quality, cost, and supply assurance.
Site Leadership
- Represent Procurement as a strategic partner at Ghirardelli by fostering collaboration with all functions to ensure their needs are consistently met.
- Actively address and resolve local concerns related to Procurement, promoting alignment with organizational objectives.
- Provide strong leadership and mentorship to the local Procurement team, empowering them to excel and contribute to the overall success of the organization.
Contract Negotiation
- Lead contract negotiations with suppliers to secure favorable terms, conditions, and pricing, balancing quality, risk management, and cost objectives.
- Develop and manage robust contracts that support long-term supplier relationships and protect the company's interests.
- Ensure that all contract terms align with legal and compliance requirements, as well as the organization’s procurement strategies.
Forecasting, Budget Management, and Finance Collaboration
- Oversee procurement price forecasting processes to support accurate operational planning and budgeting, working closely with Finance for alignment.
- Monitor budget expenditures and analyze variances.
Cost-Savings Program and Execution
- Drive a comprehensive cost-savings program through strategic sourcing, supplier consolidation, and value-design initiatives.
- Track and report on cost savings, communicating achievements and goals with stakeholders.
- Partner with suppliers to identify cost-saving opportunities while ensuring continuous improvement in quality, service, and efficiency.
Digitalization Roadmap and Best Practice Implementation
- Collaborate with Lindt Group Procurement to drive the digitalization roadmap, implementing best practices and innovative tools in procurement.
- Deploy new technologies and systems to enhance process efficiency, data visibility, compliance, and decision-making.
Sustainability and Responsible Sourcing
- Support global sustainability efforts by implementing the Lindt Responsible Sourcing approach.
- Work with internal and external stakeholders to align on responsible sourcing practices, achieving targets for sustainable raw materials and packaging.
- Execute decarbonizations projects in close partnership with Packaging Engineering, reducing environmental impact, and supporting company sustainability goals.
Supplier Performance Management and Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate with QA, Supply Planning, and Packaging Engineering to ensure supplier performance meets quality and service standards.
- Implement supplier scorecards and conduct regular performance reviews, working closely with suppliers on improvement plans.
Supply Risk Management and Planning Collaboration
- Lead the implementation of a supply risk management program to mitigate risks and ensure continuity across the supply chain.
- Collaborate closely with the Planning team to develop and maintain a supply plan that supports business objectives and minimizes supply disruptions.
- Identify potential supply risks and develop contingency plans to protect the organization from supply interruptions or volatility.
New Product Development
- Collaborate across functions to deliver innovative solutions in packaging driving faster product development, differentiation, and sustainable growth.
Leadership and People Management
- Ability to lead, mentor, and develop a team of three, fostering high-performance and collaborative environment culture.
- Possess strong leadership and influential skills to collaborate effectively across functions, ensuring alignment and driving results in a matrixed environment.
SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
Required Qualification and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in driving category sourcing management and sourcing strategy, with a strong track record of delivering cost savings and value creation.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience leading and managing procurement teams, with demonstrated success in team development, performance management, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Prior experience managing packaging category.
- Proven expertise in strategic sourcing, contract negotiation, and supplier relationship management.
- Strong knowledge of sustainability principles, responsible sourcing practices, digital procurement tools, and supply risk management.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

- Must be able to concentrate for extended periods of time paying close attention to detail
- Works in a regular office environment
- 25% travel required
Salary: $162213 - $210856 / year
