Job Summary

We are seeking a Full-Time, Onsite K-12 School Dietitian in the Norwich School District in Norwich, CT to lead all nutrition and wellness initiatives, education and training. This role will focus on nutrition education for students through cafeteria events, classroom education and school partnerships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute nutrition education for students by leading Chartwells K12 programming with tabling events, Discovery Kitchen, classroom nutrition education and more.
  • Acts as a liaison between school nursing and parents for students with dietary restrictions and/or food allergies. This role determines appropriate options for these students in coodination with the food service team.
  • Leads menu planning and recipe and ingredient management in our proprietary menu management software
  • Collaborate with chefs in strategic purchasing initiatives, and the technical nutritional review of ingredients, recipes & menus
  • Develop and provide associate training and leads food allergy and program compliance
  • Provides leadership for operations and support teams with media and nutrition communications including social media posts
  • Conducts internal audits and monitors district compliance with USDA requirements for school breakfast and lunch programs
  • Collaborates with the larger team of Chartwells K12 dietitians to contribute to the development of programs including sustainability, taste testing, discovery kitchen, mood boost program and much more!

Qualifications:

  • Credentialed as a Registered Dietitian by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) required
  • Prior work experience in schools, food service and/or culinary preferred
  • Excellent communication, multi-tasking, and teamwork skills
  • Possess the vital skills to optimally use Microsoft office applications and nutrient analysis programs
