Overview
Our client, a respected property management organization, is seeking a dedicated Affordable Housing Property Manager to lead operations at a residential community in the Hamden, CT area. In this role, you'll oversee all site functions—from resident relations and leasing to compliance and financial management—while working closely with senior leadership to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
What You'll Do
- Financial Oversight
- Manage property finances including accounts payable/receivable
- Monitor and adhere to budget guidelines
- HUD Program Administration
- Ensure full compliance with HUD guidelines (Project-Based Section 8 preferred)
- Maintain tenant files, process certifications and income verifications
- Handle EIV procedures, waiting list management, and Section 8 voucher submissions
- Tenant & Leasing Management
- Address resident concerns with professionalism and care
- Show and market vacant units
- Oversee move-in/move-out processes and lease administration
- Site Operations & Staff Leadership
- Supervise on-site team including hiring, training, and performance oversight
- Conduct regular unit and property inspections
- Oversee overall maintenance and property standards
- Compliance & Reporting
- Act as liaison with government agencies and ensure timely reporting
- Enforce compliance with Fair Housing laws, Landlord-Tenant laws, and building codes
- You’re the anchor of the community—balancing operational efficiency with compassionate resident engagement. Your leadership helps maintain a secure, compliant, and welcoming housing environment for all.
- 5+ years of multifamily property management experience (minimum 3 in affordable housing)
- Strong working knowledge of HUD programs, EIV, and voucher processing
- LIHTC and COS certifications highly preferred
- Experience with property management systems like Yardi, Boston Post, or similar
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Highly organized, independent, and able to prioritize multiple tasks
- High school diploma or equivalent required
