Job Summary

Interpreter opportunities are provided at each of our agency locations. Our availability fluctuates with the number of clients we have at any given time, so openings are not guaranteed. Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary liaison between providers and limited English proficiency clients.
  • Facilitate effective communication between healthcare providers, patients, and their families.
  • Ensure accurate and culturally appropriate interpretation services during appointments.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to HIPPA regulations when interpreting sensitive information.
  • Demonstrate exceptional language proficiency in both English and the language of the client.
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills to build rapport and trust with patients and staff.
  • Assist in scheduling appointments, coordinating follow-up visits, and explaining treatment plans to clients.
  • Provide emotional support and advocacy to clients with limited English proficiency.
  • Work collaboratively with healthcare teams to ensure effective communication and client care.
  • Strive for continuous improvement in interpreting skills and cultural competencies to deliver high-quality language services in the field.
  • Complete relevant training and certifications as needed.


Qualifications:

  • Minimum 1 year professional interpretation experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with refugee and/or immigrant populations strongly preferred.
  • Cultural sensitivity; ability to build trust with clients, colleagues, and partners.
