Portrait Studio Photography Manager

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Portrait Studio Photography Manager whose experience has an emphasis on portrait photography in portrait studio environments. This role is perfect for portrait professionals who understand the art and nuance of capturing personality through the lens and thrives in leading a team dedicated to producing exceptional portraiture.

You’ll play a critical role in leading a family friendly environment with studio operations, team leadership, and creative development, supporting the underclass division during the studio’s slower season.

Key Responsibilities:

Portrait Studio Operations

• Oversee daily operations of a high-volume portrait photography studio, ensuring seamless execution during peak senior season.
• Build and maintain a staffing plan to cover all senior portrait sessions throughout the year.
• Hire, train, and manage a team of portrait photographers and support staff.
• Maintain studio cleanliness, functionality, and equipment (camera gear, lighting, backdrops, etc.).

Senior Session Project Management

• Lead the entire senior portrait experience—from scheduling and session planning through to post-production and delivery.
• Collaborate with studio leadership and photographers to create a consistent, high-quality experience for every student.
• Develop training tools and visual guides focused on posing, lighting, expression, and composition to ensure photographers capture portraits that resonate.

Creative Direction & Quality Control

• Set and maintain high standards for portrait image quality, lighting, posing, and client satisfaction.
• Establish and enforce creative guidelines, ensuring a cohesive visual identity across all sessions.
• Keep an eye on trends in senior portrait photography—from wardrobe styling to modern posing—and integrate fresh looks into offerings.

Team Leadership & Development

• Inspire and lead a team of photographers and assistants with a shared passion for portraiture.
• Provide ongoing training, mentorship, and performance feedback to support growth and excellence.
• Promote a collaborative and creative studio culture.

Client Experience & Business Growth

• Develop and refine the client journey to ensure every student and family has a memorable and meaningful portrait experience.
• Collaborate on marketing strategies to promote senior portrait offerings and attract new clients.
• Innovate with new sets, backgrounds, and photo styles to keep sessions exciting and relevant.

Innovation & Studio Evolution

• Stay informed on the latest portrait photography techniques and studio tech.
• Identify areas for workflow improvement and introduce creative solutions.
• Champion a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
