Description

Position Summary

This role is responsible for maintaining an accurate inventory of raw materials and finished goods. This includes verification of quantities, helping set up effective storage and identification of items, movement of materials, and assisting with other inventory operations according to Steffes quality and safety requirements and policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for maintaining and organizing the inven­tory control system.
  • Helps with the creation of cycle count schedules and ABC codes for assigned plants.
  • Runs weekly cycle count schedules and participates in the cycle counting process.
  • Responsible for maintaining an accurate inventory count.
  • Collect data, investigate cause of, and correct inventory variations. Will also drive improvements in the company based on investigation results.
  • Monitors the on-hand negative report.
  • Researches and corrects causes of negative parts.
  • Leads and facilitates projects to correctly set up Warehouse and Bin locations in ERP and on production floor.
  • Monitor inventory levels, maintain and adjust KANBANS, safety stock, and magnet board levels as directed.
  • Responsible for assisting in year-end inventory procedures and incorporating cost effective measures.
  • Follow established procedures and process improvements as needed.
  • Travel between warehouses and plants may be required.
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in collaborative manner with customers, suppliers, co-workers, and management.
  • Helps company meet its Strategic, Quality and Safety objectives.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Job Requirements/Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2+ years of related work experience, preferred
  • Intermediate computer knowledge (Windows, email, internet, etc.)
  • Written and verbal communication, math, reading, and spelling skills
  • Experience with ERP or MRP, preferred
  • Excellent critical thinking skills
  • Must be collaborative with cross-functional teams

Physical Demands of Position

  • This position requires walking, sitting or standing to a significant degree.
  • Must have the ability to lift 50 pounds from floor to waist, carry 50 pounds, and push and/or pull up to 20 pounds.
  • Must have the ability to climb ladders and/or stairs.
  • Stooping, crouching, kneeling and bending.
  • Handling, feeling, and gripping would be required for some activities.
  • Visual acuity is required to inspect work completed.
  • This role may be subject to internal and external environmental conditions.
  • This position requires being in an office setting as well as working on the production floor while assisting with cycle counts.
