Job Summary
Cancer Support Community (CSC) is seeking an ambitious, detail-oriented, problem solver who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of people impacted by cancer for our Junior Web Developer position on our Digital Team.
The Junior Web Developer will report directly to the Lead Web Developer and play an important supporting role on the digital team to execute digital projects that ensure best practices in coding, web layout, and accessibility are reflected on all CSC digital assets. This position will act as a full-stack developer, deploying new features to both the front-end and back-end areas of our applications. The role will assist in the deployment and configuration of server infrastructure updates such as DNS changes, data security, and performance optimization.

Essential Functions
Website Design and Development
- Design and develop new website features and layouts for CMS-driven sites.
- Assist in developing and maintaining web applications for internal and external use.
- Support ongoing development of existing infrastructure using PHP, JavaScript, SQL, and other technologies.
- Assist staff generated website requests across all CSC digital properties.
- Manage metrics tracking and optimization across CSC digital properties.
- Assist in keeping websites secure; understand and follow secure data policies for HIPAA and privacy standard compliance.
Performs other duties as required by management.
- 2-4 years of professional web development (or equivalent) experience
- Experience working in a non-profit or start up environment a plus
- Solid base-level understanding of basic algorithms and data structures, as well as how to use and implement
- Strong knowledge of JavaScript and PHP
- Experience with or interest in learning PHP MVC frameworks (e.g., Laravel)
- Experience working with open-source CMS (e.g., Drupal)
- Proficient in modern JavaScript libraries such as React or VueJs
- Understand integrations with third party APIs and designing REST APIs
- Experience using GIT
- Basic knowledge of AWS or similar cloud platforms
- Experience working with Docker and Docker Compose
- Self-motivated, curious, eager to learn
- Collaborative and team-oriented
- Passionate about delivering high-quality work and continuously improving, high attention to detail
- Other combinations of training and/or experience which can be demonstrated to result in possession of the knowledge, skills and abilities that are needed to perform the tasks of this position will also be considered.
