About The Role
We are seeking a Health Communications Specialist III (Part-time) to support our Federal customer. The Health Communications Specialist III will lead the development, production, and dissemination of a podcast aimed at enhancing education and communication efforts.
This role is a hybrid remote position in Atlanta, GA that will require some travel within the State of Georgia.

About The Role
We are seeking a Health Communications Specialist III (Part-time) to support our Federal customer. The Health Communications Specialist III will lead the development, production, and dissemination of a podcast aimed at enhancing education and communication efforts.

Responsibilities
- Assist with the development of communications materials for various platforms, including, but not limited to, factsheets, web content, videos, social media, infographics, podcasts, or commentaries. Content should employ plain language and be built upon the available formative research.
- Write messages and prepare materials to support activities. These materials could include FAQs, talking points, scripts, presentations, inquiries, and website content.
- Assure the accuracy and consistency of messages and materials on healthcare infection control.
- Format and send Adobe Campaign (or other email subscription platform) messages, coordinate partner newsletter distribution, format and post Safe Healthcare blog entries, moderate (review/approve/triage and/or respond to) blog comments, and/or use the WCMS to update or edit Intranet content.
- Coordinate major announcements or awareness efforts; collaborate with key communications, web, and media staff to successfully coordinate dissemination and rollout plans.
- Contribute to timelines, planning, and project management of various communications activities. Utilize SharePoint and Teams for workflow/task management.
- Research and recommend the innovative use of digital tools. Continually learn about new channels, new outreach methods, audience trends, and make recommendations to the team lead.
- Collect, analyze, and report communications data related to various communications efforts.
- Analyze web and performance metrics to improve visual designs, product development, and digital implementation. Recommend how websites and products align with digital-first best practices and improve data display.
- Ensure all communications materials follow best practices for health education, risk communication, and plain language by following the CDC communications policies and formats.
- Follow Section 508 guidelines when preparing electronic documents that will be posted online or distributed via email. Use HHS Checklists to help ensure compliance with the guidelines.
- Participate in meetings as a representative of the communications team and provide meeting updates/summaries to relevant team members.
- Coordinate with subject matter experts, communications professionals from across the branch and Division, other Divisions and Centers, and external partners to share information and ensure practical efforts and successful collaboration.
- Proactively identify, research, and resolve problems or issues; participate in team strategy sessions to discuss solutions.
Required Experience and Skills
- Previous experience as editor and in communications.
- Graphic and multimedia skills.
- Plain language writing.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to collaborate with others and be a team player.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including advanced Microsoft Excel and SharePoint.
- Superior multi-tasking and organizational skills; ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize assignments, while remaining flexible to changing priorities and new initiatives.
- Project management skills.
- Previous experience with public health programs, policies, procedures, and communication activities preferred.
- Ability to obtain a government clearance.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.
- A bachelor's degree in a related field such as communications (journalism, advertising, marketing, public relations), English (writing/editing), or public health is required.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. May need to lift 25 pounds occasionally.
- Willing and able to travel within the state of Georgia.
