The Director of Program Management will lead a team who works with various stakeholders within UHC, UHG, and Optum to drive execution and ongoing operations for strategic member facing websites and mobile applications aligned to the consumer experience across digital products and lines of business.  This will ensure strategic initiatives are received, prioritized, and evolve into roadmaps. They will be a champion for the digital consumer experience leading decision-making dialogue with a fact-based data driven foundation.

The Director of Program Management Office will also lead a team of program managers who work along aside product teams, communicate priorities, and drive successful execution of strategic initiatives in a matrixed environment. This business-critical role serves as the champion for Consumer Product Office portfolio of work, developing new standards and product best practices. They will serve as a point of escalation for complex cross-functional prioritization challenges and bring forth solutions. This leadership role will drive employee engagement and provide coaching, and direction as needed to drive successful outcomes. In addition, this experience will lead a team of product managers supporting strategic initiatives across the Consumer Product organization.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of program managers who are responsible for supporting strategic initiatives across the Consumer Product Organization
  • Lead reporting efforts on overall status and health of the Consumer Product portfolio of work
  • Works closely with Portfolio, Product, Design, and Technology to refine current operational processes and drive for consistent improvements across the organization
  • Build relationships with Product Leaders you and your team support. Seek feedback on your team’s performance and look for opportunities to improve
  • Build relationships with Technology teams to ensure consistent operational best practices across the larger Consumer Experience organization
  • Keep stakeholders informed of status and manage risk to move initiatives forward. Escalate risks to senior leaders, and assist in solutioning sessions to ensure roadmaps are not impacting
  • Represent stakeholder needs to business partners for prioritization, planning, and strategic direction of products
  • Lead and assist in the removal of hurdles which could negatively impact productivity, project timelines, performance, or the customer experience aligned to digital assets
  • Lead and manage direct resources and indirect resources in a matrixed environment, that support digital assets and projects

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience working in the digital space 
  • 5+ years of experience working on in a product focused organization
  • 3+ years of experience leading/managing program or project mangers
  • 3+ years of directly managing individual contributors
  • Experience working with senior leaders, managing expectations and delivery dates
  • Experience working with multi-disciplinary teams comprising product managers, project managers, marketers, and engineering
  • Experience with Aha
  • Proven solid proficiency Microsoft Outlook, Teams, One Note, PowerPoint, Excel, and SharePoint
  • Proven results-oriented individual with solid influencing, problem solving and negotiation skills
  • Demonstrated user-centric experiences with positive impacts to engagement and KPIs
  • Comfort and willingness to travel about 10%

  • Healthcare experience
  • Experience with CA Rally
  • Proven ability to prioritize competing work requests
  • Proven detail Oriented
  • Proven reporting and Analytics proficiency
  • Proven solid ability to absorb and make sense of data to direct decision making
  • Proven ability to turn complicated inputs into a clear, communicable vision
  • Proven outstanding communication skills
  • Proven outstanding conflict management skills

The salary range for this role is $124,500 to $239,400 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
