JOB TITLE: Manager, IT (Projects)
FLSA STATUS: Exempt
REPORTS TO: Director, IT
Summary
The IT Manager will be responsible for overseeing all enterprise-wide software solutions across Summit’s global operations, including both third-party and internally developed applications. This role will lead a team of onshore and offshore software development professionals to deliver effective and efficient business solutions. A strong understanding of business function needs is essential, along with the ability to define project scope, exercise sound judgment, and clearly translate system requirements to development teams.
As a key leadership position, the IT Manager will drive operational efficiency through strategic software deployment, providing Summit with a competitive advantage in the industry. This position requires strong project management skills to ensure the successful and timely delivery of software solutions—from planning and system design to implementation and employee training.

Summary

Responsibilities And Duties
- Oversee the full software development lifecycle, including planning, analysis, design, implementation, testing, integration, and ongoing maintenance.
- Develop a deep understanding of key business functions such as Materials, Finance, Sales, Purchasing, and Production.
- Continuously meet with functional leads to identify needs and pain points that can be addressed through software solutions.
- Advise senior management on the prioritization of software development projects and implementation strategies.
- Collaborate with functional subject matter experts (SMEs) to scope projects in the most cost-effective and phased approach as needed.
- Conduct cost-benefit analyses to support make-or-buy decisions for required solutions.
- Translate business requirements into clear, actionable tasks for technical software development teams.
- Effectively manage both on-site and offshore development teams to maximize productivity and value delivery.
- Support business units in evaluating, selecting, configuring, and implementing third-party software solutions.
- Apply industry best practices in project management tools and methodologies to ensure successful project execution.
- Lead regular executive update meetings, providing accurate project status reports, timelines, and budget updates.
- Ensure software developers adhere to best practices and industry standards in their development processes.
- Lead team to meet or exceed all department and individual KRAs supporting Summit’s overall business goals
- BS in Computer Science plus 8 years experience in a similar role required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proven Manager of teams (on-shore and off-shore)
- 2+ years’ experience as a ‘Full-Stack’ developer
- Demonstrated collaboration with teams and individuals that are not direct reports
- Project management experience, PMI certification preferred
- Strong passion for continuous improvement and process optimization.
- Ability to clearly communicate complex technical procedures to both technical and non-technical colleagues.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Sharp attention to detail, with a strong curiosity to dig deeper into data and uncover insights.
- Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
- Adaptable and flexible, with a willingness to adjust to shifting priorities and evolving business needs.
- A minimum score of 26 on the Wonderlic Contemporary Cognitive Ability Test.
