As a Product Design Engineer at MANN+HUMMEL, you will play a key role in the design and development of membrane products and filtration systems. You will ensure that all designs meet MANN+HUMMEL's standards and customer specifications while collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive product innovation.
Main Tasks
- Contribute to the design of complex filtration systems, including spiral wound membrane elements, and related products.
- Develop 3D models, tolerance calculations, and technical documentation to support new product development.
- Ensure production feasibility by integrating design for manufacturing, operation, and maintenance principles.
- Collaborate with project managers and development engineers to create new design concepts and improve existing platforms.
- Lead the design release process for platform products.
- Conduct research on existing design patents, obtain patents for new innovations, and protect intellectual property.
- Drive product innovation, contributing to a growing patent portfolio.
- Plan and execute product testing based on design requirements and specifications.
- Conduct FMEA (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis) to ensure product reliability and performance.
- Maintain compliance with industry design standards and regulations.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, manufacturing, and technical staff, to ensure smooth product development.
- Keep up to date with the latest design tools and standards to drive innovation.
- Actively contribute to project work, pushing for speed and efficiency in all phases of development.
Your Profile
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's or relevant degree in Engineering.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in product design and development, preferably in membrane technology or water treatment.
Skills:
- Proficiency in CAD software (3D modeling, tolerance analysis, FMEA).
- Strong understanding of materials, flow dynamics, vibration technology, and connection technology.
- Knowledge of static and dynamic resistance, fluid dynamics, and filtration systems.
- Strong project management skills and ability to drive innovation.
- Excellent teamwork and communication abilities.
- Fluent in technical English (written and spoken).
- Experience with engineering-relevant IT tools.
